Has anyone heard any more about the retail on the 1200 and 1400 block? I live in Merchant's Row and am disappointed that the much anticipated Slate Room has not seen any progress, nor have we had any updates from the leasing company. Word was that a grocery might be coming in, but it sounds like it is going into Kales.

If anyone has the scoop please let me know!

I hear they're putting an Ikea in one of those places. Mainly to enrage forumers.
Although seriously, I would know what they're putting in.

The leasing agents are always very informative when I ask what is going on with the retail space. They must not like you Woodward. Try being nice to the folks that work there.

I would call it advise if he wants information more than an admonishmenting someone.

Even I can be nice if I want something.

Geez Merchantgander, can you butcher the english language anymore? Admonishmenting? Is that even a word? And Advise? LMAO, what a dumbass.

And leave it to stuck up, conniving people like yourself to believe that the only reason to be nice is when you want something.

I though I deleted the "ment" part. I probably should have reread what I wrote. I most likely would have caught both the misspelled words.

I can live with that assessment.

Eph McNally's opening on Woodward was discussed on another thread, although I believe that's a block down by CVS and not in Merchants Row proper, plus I haven't actually seen that reported in a real news source.

Merchant's Row will not blossom into the lovely flower it was intended to be until the Hudson's Block is developed.

Hopefully that will have a trickle UP effect for Capitol Park, and all of those other storefronts to the north..

So what we're saying here is basically that downtown will never be developed until downtown gets some development.

Gotcha.

maybe my statement wasnt very clear...I meant that MErchant's Row or Hudson development wouldnt spill over to capital park, without a similarly single "landmark" development on Washington Blvd that would signal it's ok to develop in that area. (the Book-Cadiallac for example, maybe coupled with Lafayette) And more importantly is that the Rosa Parks transit center must actually get built so that they can move the damn bustands

I hope so, I saw plans that were being proposed for the development of the Hudson's block but I don't believe it was REDICO...I haven't heard anything concrete about any of the retail space that's empty which is kind of sad. Anyone know what is going on with the Woodhouse Day Spa that was supposed to open in the spring?

Post your URL Susanarosa so I can steal your photos, too.

Some of you are getting too easy! You're getting to be like a light switch. Flip the switch and the light goes on!!

Karl where are you at when I need you. What would you have to say about this pilling on? Oooooops, I better not say piling on or I’d be in real trouble unless I turn my cup backwards!)

Hamtramck_steve you didn’t think I was going to make it so easy on you this time did you? If you are translating this post your life on Gallagher St. must be as vacant as my life for transfering into Greek. Have a good day!

Jenniferinthed, REDICO has been given the rights to develop the Woodward Block, they are (according to contract) release plans by the end of the month..but chances are they will ask for (and probably get) an extension

These projects must be big losers when their developers continually ask for extensions. Or are they trying to shake down the taxpayers again? If their projects were viable, the developers would be racing each other in their quest for profits.

I think we really know better.

I liked this part:

"MEDIA: Guardian Building tunes out Fox News

Aiming to please tenants and visitors, building management at the landmark Guardian Building in downtown Detroit has been putting tiny TV screens in its new elevator cabs. A nice touch, right?

But not everyone has been happy. The problem? The televisions initially were tuned to the conservative Fox News cable channel.

In a city overwhelmingly liberal and Democratic in its political views, people complained about being held captive with Fox, even for a short ride.

The solution? Building management quickly switched the televisions to the more politically neutral CNN."

Alright, maybe Dollar Doggs is only going in Northland... seemed like a good rumor to start for Merchants Row, though. Based on the name, I can only guess that they are a high-end restaurant specializing in pan-Asian cuisine.
