Here's the latest from the Freep on the ULI conference this morning. Some good news, notably George Jackson's comments on trasportation in the area. http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll /article?AID=/20060607/NEWS11/ 60607018 |

"Eventually, water taxies and other forms of transportation may be added to the mix." Of course, "eventually" often means never, but water taxies would be cool. |

Atwater west is a misprint - its the Chene West site by Dave Bing's group, called Spingarn Development, that was previous discussed on this forum. |

The two renderings that were at the forum were the same ones that were posted in the online newspapers some time ago. |

There's lots of talk and buzz on these projects, and the development teams seem to be very credible (I could be wrong, but I don't think that there is a Kilpatrick cousin or in-law among them), but I'm pretty sure that financing is only in the very preliminary stages. I wish there was less talk and more progress. It's a long, slow road. These projects and the announced ones in the CBD are at the mercy of the market. In terms of actual construction, there's not many units in the pipeline right now. Plenty of announced projects, just not a lot of them getting built. Is this an indicator of the market or just a coincidence? |

Very credible, very nice looking too. I suspect this'll be done sometime around 2011. Yep, the city's coming along nicely.... the riverfront at least. |

I'm guessing it's 'Chene West' on that website that we're supposed to be looking at...it reminds me of something seen across the river along the east Windsor/Riverview waterfront, combined with several trendy architectural elements from something like the Ellington. Beggers can't be choosers when it comes to the riverfront, so anything remotely like this would be awesome. They key is to make it seem like it's own community, but not completely turn its back on the street. This would be done by putting street level retail in facing Atwater. |
