http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs .dll/article?AID=/20060607/NEW S01/606070332 These are the kind of despicable acts of destruction against Detroit's neighborhoods. We talked about crime on this forum all the time, and even reformed criminals who have turned their lives around aren't immune to the constant challenges from those that wish for the city to stay blighted and decayed. |

So why the surprise? Shouldn't even rate a newspaper story. Standard Big D fair. Crime, crime and more crime and the politicians who are inept, incompetent, and ineffective keep the city blighted and decayed. |

I've heard that in West Village years ago, people used to plant flowers in front of their houses and in the empty lots and the drug dealers would dig them up. Residents just kept planting them and eventually the drug dealers gave up and moved on. I hope they keep rebuilding the house until the drug dealers give up or are caught. With unwavering persistence, the good people will win in the end. |

Rebuilding houses is a little more expensive than planting flowers. |
