Excellent. Those movies are a great time and a wonderful family atmosphere.

They should work on turning the lights on first, they couldn't manage to do that last weekend during the Tigers homestand.

They've been doing alot of work there the past few weeks. Maybe they were doing some electrical work for the Cadillac Strip. I think Hemingway noticed the water was out for a day last week as well.

Hope they can work on the resolution of that large monitor...they were playing what appeared to be videoTAPE when I saw it last year...kinda like Comcast was telling people to watch their TV at home where they could make a little money off 'em.

Caught The Blues Brothers last year and loved that more than a few folks jumped up to dance during the music scenes...what a great feeling crowd.

Campus Martius might be one of the best ideas ever in downtown Detroit.

People should not dance during movies. Especially public showings. That's distracting for others. Very rude.

In a public park the distraction was not only welcome, it was part of the entertainment.

I don't think it was a 'first viewing' of the Blues Brother's for ANY of us!

I mentioned it exactly for that reason...you would NEVER tolerate someone turning a theater aisle into a dance floor unless it was scripted into the play...but this added to the overall fun time and pleasant vibe in the park.

You must have never seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a theater.

I think that falls into "scripted" in his statement.

As far as myself, no I haven't seen that in the theater...or otherwise. :shudder: I've seen parts and that movie is garbage, but that's just my opinion.

LOL @ Toolbox...there are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule...heh.

It was disturbing for me to find out that people occasionally acted like that in some churches...WAY too energetic for this older Catholic boy.

Focus...are you saying that the Blues Brothers movie is garbage?! WTF, it is entertainment...pure and simple. They obviously had as much fun making it as most people have viewing it...which to me makes it a modern classic.

This 'might' warrant another thread...

OMG no, Blues Brothers is amazing. It's the Rocky Horror Picture Show that is garbage, IMO.

Saw Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight at the Punch & Judy Theatre in Grosse Pointe back in the 70's (in the balcony)..... it is kitsch pure and simple. But one would have had to been around in the late 1970's to appreciate the cult classic, and watching all the folks in their outlandish costumes dancing in the aisles.... they were the forerunners to the Gothic kids today.

On Video/DVD/Cable.... it is just not the same..... (remember picking the rice out of my hair)....

Here goes the complete lineup. Looks like they've expanded the summer activities with daily concerts, and a fine arts and handcraft marketplace every Friday.
