Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!

It's time to try
Defying gravity
I think I'll try
Defying gravity
And you can't pull me down!

After I find out the premise of this musical and should I decide to go are there even any tickets available? I hear it's very popular.

A) Yes, with a bunch of grade school girls tonight
B) The premise is the "prequel" to The Wizard of Oz... with the real story of how the Wicked Witch of the West and her buddy Glinda got to be the way they were
C) I thought it was expected to be sold out

I'm pretty sure it's fiction.

I kinda knew that was the storyline but I was trying to be cryptic. Out of respect to L. Frank Baum, I really have no desire to see this if this is a PC 2006 storyline having the witches bullied or coming from a broken family or picked on etc.

My girlfriend and her sis-in-law, mom, sis, and every other female in the family are all going this weekend. I don't know what the big deal is. But then I've always thought plays sucked.

Or you could have gone to Chicago anytime over the past 2 years and seen it there.....

Who cares?

Went to the matinee yesterday and the show was amazing. The management of the Masonic temple was HORRIBLE..... When we got there about 30 minutes before show people were lined up outside then they finally opened the doors about 15 minutes before the show started and hoped that a sold out house would make it through the cavernous insides to their seats. The show started 10 minutes late as to let people find there seats, problem was that there were literally hundreds still coming in the doors who had to miss the first number. Then once we got to our usher they just sat you where there was an opening. Needless to say people who had front row seats sat over in the obstructed view areas. When they complained to management they were told they could have a refund and leave. Mind you the show is sold out for the entire run. Basically if you’re going to go see this show, Go Early and find you’re own seat

The composer of Wicked, Stephen Schwartz will be in town to receive an award (The Apple Award) from Wayne State University and the Neaderlander Family. There will be "A Conversation with Stephen Schwartz" on Wenesday June 13 at 1:30 at Schaver Recital Hall on Hancock in the back of Old Main next to the art gallery. It is free and open to the public, hope some of you theatre lovers can make it.

I'm not a big fan of musical theatre, but I enjoyed Wicked when I saw it in NYC, even though I had to watch Joey Mcintyre of New Kids on the Block fame trying to sing broadway showtunes. He wasn't very good.

And yes, Idina was the shit. I think she was pretty hot with the green makeup.

I was lucky enough to see Idina in NYC, although I missed Kristen. I also saw Ana Gasteyer play Elphaba in Chicago, we were kinda puzzled when we heard it was her but she really did a great job. I will be going to the Detroit production twice, with 2 different sets of people. Now I've always been into witches and Oz, and yes I'm a girl, but this play is truly awesome!! Even my brother loved it and he claims to hate all musicals. I urge you ALL to go see it, it's magical!!

If I'm not mistaken, Ana's training was in musical theater, not comedy. On all those SNL skits that would involve cast singing, she would always stick out as the only one with a great voice.

Im so tired of musical theatre, it makes me want to vomit in my mouth a little. I wish there were more options with out singing. I like to see plays but im always paranoid that I might step into a musical (dont have time to research if its amusical).

Makes sense.

The musical was really well done and fun.

to Pacypacy's point, there was some 2006 pc crap, but if you wait until the writer of today's entertainment gets away from that kind of stuff... it could be a long time between shows.

Imagine my disappointment & embarrassment when I took my seat at The Masonic only to realize this had nothing to do with Ice Cube's 1992 hit, 'Wicked'. Damn did I feel out of place.
