It is truly fantastic to have Roger Penske continue to help the city of Detroit. It is no doubt that he is brilliant on the racing circuit. Let's give him more opportunity to contribute his brilliance towards the improvement of this city. Congratulations, Roger Penske and Sam Hornish Jr. ! |

Alright, number 14 for Penske. Now he's coming back just in time to launch his clean-up effort...Hopefully there will be more announcements of Penske helping to rebuild Detroit in the future |

The Penskes of the world definitely help the city of Detroit, but what the city really needs is more of this....http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs .dll/article?AID=/20060529/OPI NION02/605290331/1122 |

Just suppose Penske's racer didn't win by less than 0.07 second. Would there still be a thread on this forum about the Indy 500 or NASCAR? Almost any mention on DY about motor vehicles is tied to such gripes about sprawl, pollution, mass transit, gasoline costs, etc. There's precious little about the auto industry anymore outside of the ancient car history thread, and even those posts are becoming fewer and fewer. Perhaps, that's just more proof that the Detroit Three and their Tiers are already irrelevant to Detroit. (Message edited by livernoisyard on May 29, 2006) |

DCX has already distanced themselves from being (or wanting) to be called the "Big 3". I guess it's the Big 2 now. |

I find that one of the most ironic things about Indy "The biggest spectacle of American Auto Racing", is that all the cars run on Honda engines. |

Indy isn't what it used to be, that's for sure. When Marco Andretti can go from running mid-pack in the Star Mazda development series to almost winning the Indy 500, something ain't right. |

Hell, Saturn used the Honda V-6 in the Vue mini-SUV because they needed to INCREASE their North American-made content. Where are these Indy Honda engines manufactured?! |

And young Eddie Rickenbacker raced in it... He later bought the Brickyard and was the CEO of Eastern Airlanes and had an automobile company named after him on Cabot, whose assets after its bankruptcy were bought by Audi. (Message edited by livernoisyard on May 30, 2006) |

Chances are these racing engines are built in the UK or here in the states. Just like the Toyota racing engines, they don't build a bolt, just buy a nameplate. |
