eyesore now, but back then, that Ned's Firestone Tire outlet was really an impressive structure. A Detroit fixture in its prime, and certainly a BIG TIME Firestone dealer, not only at this location on East Jefferson, but also other retail shops around Detroit, Mt. Clemens and surroundiung suburbs. The Belle Tire of its day. They sold and installed tires by the gazillions. Any forumers recall their other locations? |

I just checked an old Detroit News from 1973, and found no ad for Ned's Tire. I forgot how big those old newspapers used to be. |

I think that toward the end of their days in Detroit the outlets were called "Ned's Auto Supply." I believe that they sold other brands of tires than just Firestone. My brother bought his old Philco radio from one of their stores. |

Found this on the web. www.daads.org/modern/1301/fire stone.htm It's courtesy of the Detroit Area Art Deco Society and shows the Ned's store in Mt. Clemens. Don't know when Ned's folded, DO know the Firestone store at 13 and Woodward was not a Ned's. |
