When the station started covering NASCAR with NASCAR Bubba, I knew the end was near. I didn't realize on my drive home it had changed, as I surf the stations constantly, but I threw up a red flag when "Flip Fantasia" played by US3, figured they bit the dust. That's too bad, radio around here continues to suck.

Yup, just got Sirius. Although I have some issues with the signal strength due to broadcasting through my FM and not directly wired as well as getting the "cheap" model. Throughly impressed with the stations though.

Some people are speculating that 106.7 will begin simulcasting WDFN (which is sports radio for those of you who don't know), that would be interesting.

"I haven't listened to radio since Jack the Bellboy and Fred Wolf left the airwaves." Talk about slap me upside the head Ray1936! Are they off the air?

What the heck does "Satellite Radio FOR THE WIN!" mean?

I’ve been having terrible reception with my radio but I thought it was just “birds on the wire!” <(:-)~

"....witnesses reported hearing this listener generated segue: Celine Dion's ubiquitous Titanic theme "My Heart Will Go On" directly into "Wild Wild West" by Kool Moe Dee. No wiplash injuries were reported."

from the site:
"We appreciate your help and interest in building this new radio station. This radio station is ALL ABOUT YOU, the listener, so we need YOU to tell us how it should be!"

how about.... anything but clearchannel!

college and highschool radio forever.
88.1 www.881theescape.com
89.3 www.whfr.fm
89.5 wovi
90.9 was on the list but since they removed magic mike and the morning roll call/morning work out mix, they get an F.
91.5 www.cjam.ca

106.7 was an oldies/70s/80s/rock top 40 station for those who never got the radio up that far.

My sister is going to be upset about this when she returns from her vacation in Florida! 106.7 was the only radio station she listened to. I never liked it much-- they played the stuff from the 70s and 80s that I wasn't really into the first time around. (My sister and I fought about music a lot when we were kids.)

I'd like to see an AAA format for the new station. We haven't had a full-time AAA station since The River changed to mainstream adult contemporary.

Reason number 2348567263490592634852 to get Sirius.

I've had it since just after they went live in 2003. I will never ever ever go back.

XM or Sirius, satellite radio is the way to go! XM has 170 channels to choose from. I got XM's Roady model so I could move it from my car to rental cars, etc. Love it.

From today's Freep article: "They put on '60s-'70s broadcast legend Bill Bonds starting at noon Wednesday to periodically announce the public would have a chance to pick all the music they'd want to hear on a new 106.7."

Wow. They should just have an all Bill Bonds station. He could play some tunes, do some "talk" radio, voice over his own commercials and challenge local political officials to boxing matches. Talk about shock radio. :-)

Yeah, I'll say they need help...

The "Top Songs of the hour"

quote:

Tina Turner - Better Be Good to Me
U2 - Crumbs from Your Table
Nelly - Shake Ya Tailfeather
Reba McEntire - Sweet Music Man
Night Ranger - Sister Christian
Atlanta Rhythm Section - Spooky
Grandmaster Flash - The Message
Tracy Chapman - Fast Car
Aaron lines - You Can't Hide Beautiful
Rod Stewart - Stay With Me
The Fugees - Killing Me Softly
Peter Frampton - Baby I Love Your Way
Toby Keith - Get Drunk and Be Somebody
Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body
Eminem - Cleanin' Out My Closet
Prince - Little Red Corvette
Aldo Nova - Fantasy

That's quite a mix....

I like this at the end:

101.9 may need someone's help as well...Michael Coleman pleaded out to misdemeanor EMBEZZLEMENT not two hours ago. Maybe he can get a job at 107.1 in Ann Arbor…I hear they like to hire corrupt ex-WDETers.

Agreed with Vic- it's BS!

My guess is that the new format will probably premiere at around 5 p.m. today. That gives them excuse to say, "There's nobody here who can comment until Monday morning" if they get any media calls, and it also gives them the weekend to fine-tune the format.

Country??? My sister is REALLY gonna be mad when she comes home from Florida tomorrow. They took away her Bon Jovi, Rush, and Def Leppard and replaced it with country! Only gangsta rap would have pissed her off more.

This wouldn't be the first time 106.7 gave up rock for country. Before 81 they were W4 the Rock station. In 81 they became W4 the country station. Blech.

Was that the station that had "Dr Don" in the afternoons? I'm not AT ALL into country but that fellow was very listenable.

Phaggood--Dr. Don came back to Detroit from Cincinnati a few months back. He's the morning drive DJ on WYCD 99.5.
