In the "is detroit gay enough" thread someone asked what happened to the gay community in Palmer Park. How has the neighborhood changed, and why?

If you listen to the old disgruntled gay men at Menjo's it's because everyone either got married, moved the suburbs or out of the state (like everyone else) or passed away.

Yes, we all move to the cemetery, eh.
I don't see a Jew for miles when I walk on Hastings Street now.

You would have to have amazing vision to see anyone in Detroit from where you are located.

Susanarosa, that pretty much covers all the bases there, doesn't it?

BTW it's been YEARS since I saw any old men at Menjo's! Must have moved, died or gotten married (although the being married shouldn't really pre-empt the living in Palmer Park, should it?)

Actually, I guess it does.

Watched the Dancing with the Stars finale with a whole gaggle of 'em. Of course we might have different definitions of "old" too. :-)

Merchant, Jjaba's mind is still delusional from eating Cafe's stale bagels.

Menjo's. Can't believe it is still around. In the early 80's, they used to play Gary Glitter's "Rock n Roll (Part Two)" over and over and over. Now it cracks me up because everytime I hear that song at any sporting event I always think of the Menjo's crowd and how they went crazy over that song.

Never mind jjaba's mental state, you shoulda seen his dental bill behind that bagel.

It is a fact certain that a day=old bagel was used to split the atom in early Israeli experiments.

Buy 'em by the dozen, eat 'em quickly or flash freeze them for later. Even plastic wrap doesn't work very well. Always eat one hot while driving, letting the cell phone ring. Foggetaboutit, that's livin.'

jjaba, gimme a hot dozen assorted.
