I'm going to propose to my girlfriend soon and I think I am going to take her to Coach Insignia for the event. I want to rent a limo and have it wait for us during dinner then take us around town after dinner and she accepts (hopefully!). I think we'll probably go to Greektown and donate to the Casino for a bit. It will be middle of the week so not too busy. Just wondering if anybody had other ideas for stuff to do afterwards like jazz at Berts or something(keep it clean folks). Thanks DTrain |

wow dtrain; our thought processes are remarkably similar. i proposed to ms. rsa about four months ago; we had cocktails at coach insignia where i popped the question. they have nice, secluded booths that overlook the city on the very top level. we then went up to small plates and had a nice tapas (shared) meal with a good bottle of wine. it was a friday, so we finished out the evening listening to some top-level karaoke (it really is quite good) at vivio's where we knew many of our friends would be. it's getting warmer out, so i'd recommend having a car drop you off at your start point, then having it pick you up at your end point. might save yu some money for all the time and parking fees. the congress is pretty good food also. there's been some pretty good jazz at cliff bell's lately (not to mention great atmosphere). |

Nah! That didn't kill the thread. I know this forum better than that. I'm sure there are lot's of ideas I haven't thought about that are "clean". I've already thought of the dirty ones anyway so no one's gonna invent anything new there. lol! Thanks for the congrats Apbest! I doubt she would check this forum though. Even if, she kind of knows its coming. I gave up on the surprise element a while ago and just decided that I would make it as fun as possible . |

How about a drive around Belle Isle? Especially if the Scott Fountain is up and flowing. The view of downtown from near the fountain is really cool. |

I would suggest against a restaurant for one simple fact - they go out of business. Have a nice dinner then go somewhere (hopefully)permanent - Campus Matius, Scott fountain, riverwalk, etc so it should be there will be future anniversaries |

It doesn't matter where, how, when, etc... She'll be there forever and that's all that really matters. The rest is at best ornament. |

Propose on the people mover. Nothing says I love you more than the gas station, while a bum shakes you down for a dollar when you get down on one knee. I go with Neilr's suggestion. Just make sure its before 10 pm, you don't want the cops hassling you to get out of the park! Oh and try not to do it when the hooptie boyz are blasting music about bitches and hoes. (yes I am an old crumudgeon wondering what happened to classy music like Cool and the Gang) |

have The President throw the ring down from his roost in the Metropolitan Building. nothing more romantic than dodging random crap being hurled out of an abandoned building, then snatching the ring out of midair before being clobbered on the head with a rusty office chair. |

Aram how appropriate. That building was once the home of the Jewelers the way the Advance Building is today. BTW "I'm the president, B#$&%!" I laughed at your suggestion pretty dammed clever. |
