For a number of months now, great swaths of delapidated residential property north of 7-Mile and east of Woodward have been demolished and fenced off. Heavy equipment and activity remain. Anybody know what's going on?

That's the future home of Perfecting Church led by Marvin Winans...

They just had a ground breaking ceremony a week or so ago to officially begin construction.

A big black church in a small deteriorating Chaldean community in Detroit.

Danny your description makes it sound like it is being placed in the middle of 7 Mile between Woodward and John R where the population resides. Its on the Corner in a big empty area on the outskirts of the Chaldean community.

Doesn't matter if it was a big Polish church in a small Asian community.. it's development in a run down area.

Cha ching... more tax revenue

My bigger question is, what are they going to do to the big building they have on Nevada & Van Dyke?

I believe that it would be a non-profit religious organization and exempt from most local taxes...

However I do not know Detroit tax very well, and could be wrong.

ahhhh you are right...

I am sure Detroit benefits in some way from the development. Hopefully the city owned the land at least.

I am sure they will benefit quite nicely, lol.

on the EAST side of Woodward its most likely 80%+ Chaldean. The WEST side of Woowdard is Palmer Woods etc... but the East side of Woodwards inner bowels are mos visible than the heavily wooded Palmer Woods West side..

Anyone know the exact borders of this church property? Will it come right up to Woodward, or is it a few blocks to the east? Will they tear down Dutch Girl Donuts?

it is on the Northeast corner of 7 and Wooward north of Mc Donalds. They have a small building right on Woodward practically and the church will be behind that.
