Frank, you must not have checked out the Michigan Theatre thread, cuz I left 2 questions for you on that thread in regards to the Anthony Pieroni's AAA Building on the Statler block.

Mr. Pieroni said that you got a tour of the damage to the AAA Building that he said was caused by people getting into the former unsecured Statler.

You called him out on that one, so.... well, what did you see?

Frank is one of the few forumers who has a link to his email right there in his username. Click the blue hyperlink, send him an email. Also, in his defense, I haven't seen him around here all that much lately.

It was at this AAA site in 1964-1965 that jjaba and Detroit CORE picketed hard asking AAA to hire black people in all phases of operations and to insure their properties. At the time, terrible redling was in place.

Some members of Detroit CORE held sit-ins and were hauled off to jail when they refused to leave the marble foyer after the bldg. was closed.
Detroit CORE had many actions, pickets and demonstrations, but just a few acts of civil disobedience. jjaba was on the outside with his picket line, while others were getting hauled away.

jjaba remembers the bldg. and the AAA suite of offices across the street in the United Artists Theater Bldg. where negotiations were held with management.

Then they moved to Dearborn.

jjaba, 1960s civil rights activist.

great story jjaba.
(Barnesfoto wonders how many times jjaba was called a communist by 1960's conservocrites for his activities).
