quote:After stops in Detroit and Philadelphia in the next few weeks, Luce wants to unleash a "blitz" of youth pastors into the communities to do everything from work with the homeless to find new ways to bring others to Christ. He challenged youth leaders to double the size of their groups in the next year.

The terrorism and military analogies are used way too loosely, especially these days when real terrorism and military action is underway. Sports teams tend to use the same overblown rhetoric. This part of the article cracked me up. quote: the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution condemning the "act of provocation" by what it termed an "anti-gay," "anti-choice" organization that aimed to "negatively influence the politics of America's most tolerant and progressive city."
Would the nation's "most tolerant city" really pass an official resolution condemning a group with a different viewpoint? Sounds pretty intolerant of diversity to me. |

quote:"The virtue of terrorism"
I love the way people mis-quote things. It is "virtue terrorism" not "the virtue of terrorism." One is a pro-terrorist message, while the other is implying that society has launched a "terrorist attack" on American virtues. While you may disagree with "virtue terrorism" at least recognize what it is they are talking about. |

my bad, wrote it incorrectly, here's some lyrics i'm sure you're familiar with: I hear people saying we don't need this war I say there's some things worth fighting for What about our freedom and this piece of ground We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend Have you forgotten how it felt that day? To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden Have you forgotten? They took all the footage off my T.V. Said it's too disturbing for you and me It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say If it was up to me I'd show it everyday Some say this country's just out looking for a fight Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right Have you forgotten how it felt that day? To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden Have you forgotten? Now I've been there with the soldiers Who've gone away to war And you can bet that they remember Just what they're fightin' for Have you forgotten all the people killed? Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field Have you forgotten about our Pentagon? And all the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden Have you forgotten? Have you forgotten how it felt that day? To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden Have you forgotten? Have you forgotten? Have you forgotten? |

quote:The $55 advance tickets for two days of musical performances and speeches were sold out, but walk-up admission was available for $199.
That about sums it up. But to add to it he also states:
quote:The villains, Luce said, range from the promiscuity and "sexualization" of young people on MTV and the popular online meeting hub MySpace.com to a corporate culture that spends millions trying to woo the under-21 crowd.
Looks like he is doing his fair share of wooing with for his own profit. |

No county music please. Especially crappy ones written to cash in during a time of tragedy. Okay, thanks. |

"Have you forgotten how it felt that day?" Not at all. I remember that horrible day like it was yesterday. But what does Iraq have to do with what happened on 9/11? Why invade Iraq in response to the actions of 19 Saudi hijackers? |

$199 for a walkup ticket? Jesus is sure getting expensive nowadays. Does anyone know of some more affordable diety? How much does Vishnu cost? I'm not made out of money! |

Has fear of terrorism really seeped into every corner of our society? What an incredibly irresponsible use of the worse, considering our soldiers and Iraqi civilians are actually at this moment being killed by terrorist. Very classy. And, this doesn't even delve into the main issue. |

Yeah, he gets those stadiums for free, so why charge our poor kids who can barely afford cars to get there, designer label clothes to wear while they're there, and Ipods to listen to along the way? Let the kids listen to "It's Hard out Here Being a Pimp" for free, it's a lot better for 'em. |

Karl completely misses the hypocrisy. If you think this guy is doing this as a non-profit I have some swampland in Florida to sell you. The issue is the hypocrisy that he is going to preach against consumerism and other demons while charging $199 at the door. I get a bigger laugh out of Karl with every post. |
