It might be the new Second Ebeneezer Baptist church. I haven't driven by the area in a while, but that's the area they are building a new church. |

Big Black Baptist Churches are getting very common in Detroit. Take Greater Grace Temple for Example. |

Bvos is correct. It's the Second Ebenezer Baptist Church. |

Temple Missionary Baptist at West Grand and Grand River is a great example too. A fine church if you ask me. Fellowship Chapel's new building is very nice as well, but it doesn't make much of an architectural statement. Just another mega-church. Do you think this could be compared to the "golden age" of the Catholic Church in Detroit and their outstanding buildings scattered all over the city, especially on the Eastside and SW Detroit? I am a member of Fellowship Chapel, the church wasn't designed to be an architectural masterpiece but moreso homage to the huts in Africa. I saw that structure off the freeway the other day and wondered what it was. Kinda an odd location though |

Vizion, I didn't mean to put down Fellowship's new building. It's a very nice place and it's obvious that a lot of money and thought was put into the design of it. It's very well laid out, has quality construction and materials, etc. It is just as good as a suburban mega-church. I was just commenting on the exterior design of the place. It's not flashy like the new Temple Missionary Baptist or the Catholic and Lutheran Churches of old. The lack of flashy design isn't a bad thing, it is just making a different point. |
