17 or 18 AoD schools closed last year, didn't they? Maybe some parochial schools were taken over by interestered parent groups. I haven't been following this much. I assume that they all will eventually close. Messmer HS in Milwaukee was taken over in that manner many, many years ago by interested parents/donors. Located in the north inner city, its graduation and college admissions rates are far ahead of the rates in Milwaukee's public high schools. |
