Glad to see they're able to keep an important restaurant going despite the stupid antics of the former co-owner. It's also good to see that Frank Taylor made it out of this bum deal without getting too scraped up.

quote:

"We're in a euphoria state right now where everybody thinks downtown Detroit is coming back and there are a ton of people living there," he said, "but the problem is that it's not the density restaurants need to survive.

"The problem has always been that there is a lunch traffic but not dinner traffic, and restaurants survive on dinner."

What the hell does this have to do with Coleman/Taylor buying the restaurant?

An important restaurant?? Good lord, what makes this one more important than any other?

I think it may be the restaurant's position on the Randian Common Good that makes it so important.

I called it important because it was:

1. Frank Taylor's first restaurant venture in Detroit. He's since created an amazing array of fine dining establishments in the city that are changing the city in a multitude of positive ways.

2. The first fine dining restaurant to open in Greektown. Mosiac is a recent addition that would likely not exist if it weren't for the "risk" that SGB first made to prove that there was a market.

Neither of those is 'fine dining'. They are upscale.

Don't mind me, I'm just being nit-picky. I do believe that the actual defintion of fine dining is 4 star and above.

Sweet G's is more than likely 4 star. ;-)

I hope the new co-owner D.C. doesn't whip it out and piss all over like he did at Intermezzo a few years ago.
