I think he was trying to say that he would like to thank Lowell for his WDET Morning Edition sponsorship this morning and that it was made in the name of DetroitYES!

(At least that's what I think he meant...)

"...a donation made in appreciation of the members of the DetroitYes.com forum and to please support public radio and Detroit's very own WEDET with your donations."

Said it and I meant it! I truly appreciate this forum and all I have learned from it. You folks are the best.

I also think WDET is one of the crown jewels of our international metropolitan community and I urge all to support it in whatever way you can.

This is a day sponsorship so it will be repeated at 12:59, 4:59, 7:00 and circa 10:30.

I agree...I am also a donor. Love the news and love Ed Love's Destination Jazz Program. I love that it was extended two hours.

I have always been a supporter of WDET, but I don't care for their shift towards national news programs over locally-produced music. I know they still play music on the weekends - but I much preferred John Penney to bluegrass and gospel. Matt Watroba's program is decent, but I'm mixed on folk music in general.

On top of that, Judy Adams - who had been there for something like 30 years, was let go. I can probably point to nearly 40 CDs on my rack that were purchased from music on her program. I even mentioned as much during my last pledge before the changes. Willy Wilson? gone. John Penney, well, obviously gone too. Chuck Horn has been moved to such an obscure hour that even though he's playing electronica again, it's impossible to listen to.

Chris Felcyn used to have a great program on Sunday mornings (The Listening Room), but has since moved to WRCJ. I don't know if that was related to the format shift, or if it was simply a desire to become part of the new station.

In any case, I'm upset about the changes, but yes, WDET is still a very valuable part of the city's cultural and news programming.

Listening to whining about Bush all day instead of music just sucks.

I also support WRCJ and if you want Chris Felcyn's
Listening Room Program is it now Sunday mornings at 10AM on WRCJ. It is nice to have it back.

Those who were fans of the DET because of the music (which has given way to what it is now)

can put their public radio dollars towards WRCJ...great music without the politics!

Lowell, I hope they don't try to bribe you with Persian rugs like the NPR outfit in Ann Arbor WUOM.

But maybe they will pay for a kegger for the next DYes Belle Isle cookout! Party ON!!!
