Why not the People Mover? Those designers over there are very innovative and I think it only adds to the many flavors of our urban landscape. More power to them. later - naturalsister |

Last year, I proposed that Detroit select a Mr. and Ms. People Mover. No one listened. |

thank you, blondy. ever since i read that lovely comment, i wished i could think of something sarcastic to respond to it with. perfect example of why there are less women than men on this message board. anyways, just got home from this event & it was fantastic. great to see the people mover get such use & so many enthusiastic people. it was different & fun & a perfect example of why i love detroit. |

Kbkav (or anyone else that was there), Do you have any idea of how many people were there? I would have liked to make up but I was busy packing. |

1953 - what would the requirements for a Mr. and Ms. People Mover be? - highest riding time? - rides for fun? - promotes different restaurants/sights at each stop? |

Sharmaal you are the king of missing cool shit. You need to get out and start living life, and stop hearing about it second-hand on the internet! There were gobs of people there. I only did a quick walk-through, but it was crazy. |

Spidergirl... Mr. and Ms. People Mover could take a number of forms. The primary reason to have such a designation is the positive press it could generate for the city and the people mover. |

Sharmaal, I can't really estimate a number but the whole top platform of the Times Square station was filled with people except for a clear path to walk through and there were also people who had to watch from the stairs or the lower level. It was really nice, maybe too successful. |

How cool would it be to mount a few wireless webcams on the People Mover showing the buildings, cars and people it passes? It would be far more interesting than static webcams. Wouldn't it be great PR for Detroit? Are there any reasons why that couldn't be done? (Message edited by Jimaz on March 12, 2006) |
