Hmmm. ANOTHER Catholic school closing and there's a museum dedicated to Pope John Paul II in Washington DC that was funded from monies raised in the Detroit area? Odd priorities??

You wonder why faith is waning in the Catholic church?

Shame.

No, the JPII Center was funded by monies raised across the country and a loan from the Irish Bank - that hasn't been called. There is some AofD money in it but the money is from the priest's pension fund - nothing to do with the schools or AofD operating funds. The security for the loans is, of course, the properties and buildings of the JP Center - which would be sold to pay off the debt, if it comes to that.

The schools are closing because their prospects are downward in terms of enrollment, year after year. This despite millions spent by the AofD each year in tuition grants and school subsidies.

The schools and the museum ARE NOT funded by the same source, just as the churches here do not support the vatican.

jjaba always figured it was one big corporation.
But what does he know? St. Brigit's Parish on Schoolcraft met its demise too.
