Right, not trendy enough, probably. They should have tried going Polish-Polynesian, Mexi-Thai, or Pan-Australian-Sub-Continent. |

I never ate there, but I always say "FU-WAH!" when I walk past it. |

Whenever I hear or think of "The Low Spark of the High Heel Boys" I always substitute "fffffuuuuuu-waaaaaaaaah" in my head. Sometimes I would randomly think of that song when I walked past Fu Wah. Then it began to happen to me every time I walked past it. I am glad they are closed now. Maybe the demons will leave my head. |

The store front directly across from Fu-Wah in the Milender center is a Super Bowl store and will soon be vacant. What kind of business would do well in those locations? What kind of business would support the city county building or fill a niche in Detroit? Lawyers office? Bail Bonds? |

I hear they didn't renew their lease. That or someone at the health department finally figured out that the ventilation sucked. I liked the food but not the drycleaning bills. Kind of like the old Twingo's. |

I are there recently and didn't like the food. It was cold by the time I got back to 1 Woodward. Granted, I walked a little way, but I would expect it to be at least a little bit warm |

What, an "Urban" style business doesn't survive in Downtown Detroit, WTF, what kind of business plan did they have? Delivering menus to local businesses, offering delivery at no charge? They deserved to fail. \i {for many of you - Sarcasm} |

When I worked at the Coleman A. building last year I went regularly. The place was ALWAYS PACKED for lunch. Food was always fast and hot. I don't get why it closed, of course after 4 P.M. it was a ghost town .... |

Isn't that what a ventilation system is supposed to do? |

Truth is, the rent went up on them so they decided to bolt. I thought it was the health dept. too, but that's the official word from CAYMC. |

Maybe they realized that there weren't any Chinese places downtown and that they could capitalize on it by opening a bigger place with a street level location. Then again, businesses close and open all the time. |

Fu Wah was in business for many years as one of the only Chinese restaurants in the CBD. While it didn't have any street visibility, it's longevity was due almost exclusively to its location on the walkway circuit between the CAYMB and the Ren Cen. It had a monopoly, everybody knew it was there and it was convenient. That said, I think a lot of people would agree that the exceptionally mediocre food and the dreary decor and flourescent lighting made for a lousy lunch experience. Hopefully General Motors can find another Chinese restaurant tenant. No more sandwiches or coney islands please. |

Maybe, they will reopen in the new Asian Village along the riverwalk? Or maybe the lease expired, they saw the competition from the Asian Village and decide to call it quits. |

Maybe they'll be moving in to the Hard Rock space once it's vacant. |
