Did anyone else's parents besides mine give their kids a piping hot Vernors to relieve some wacky childhood ailment? I never did find out if there was anything medicinal in Vernors but it sure seemed to relieve my runny nose, cough and whatever ailed me at the moment. Are there any other odd related folk cures using Detroit products here? |

Well there were a lot of people that self-medicated daily with ice cold Strohs. I've never heard of the hot Vernors treatment, but I'll keep it in mind. Maybe add a shot of brandy... |

Didn't Alice Cooper appear in a Vernors tv ad, steaming mug in hand, saying "You have your Vernors your way; I'll have it mine"? Or was that Bob Seger? |

For depression, try a Sanders Hot Fudge Puff. If you're down after that, you need hospitalization. Pure joy. (whip cream and cherry optional) jjaba, sipping warm Vernors. |

There's got to be something medicinal about Better Made potato chips isn't there? (fingers crossed) I love the use of Stroh's as a muscle relaxant. I've heard that Lafayette & American coney islands can be used as a laxative at times. |

I grew up on hot Vernor's when sick (head cold) I later invented a drink I like to call "Vernor's Grand Dad". Try it. |

Warm Vernors with milk was Mum's remedy for an upset Tum-tum in my family. Although my personal opinion was Vernors with a dollop of French Vanilla ice cream will cure anything. |

Oy, a Vernors float on a hot stinky Detroit July day. jjaba prefers it with Stroh's Butter Pecan ice cream so he can tip the glass and eat the nuts, with the Vernors. Try the 12 oz. Pepsi with a bag of Planters Peanuts in the bottle. Makes a dandy snack and will cure carpel tunnel syndrome with these 3,000 posts of mine. jjaba. |

I never remember warm Vernors. I do remember mom giving us flat (no fizz) Vernors for upset stomachs. I have started a Vernors float craze out here on the west coast. |

I happen to have a taste for ginger brandy, and have been known to throw some of that into a big latte cup of microwaved Vernors. It's a great hot toddy (sp?) when you are feeling under and can use some help getting to sleep. |

When I was a teen, I chugged a quart bottle of Vernors nonstop resulting in an instant stomach ache and a burp that lasted for about a minute. It took a couple decades before I could drink carbonated beverages again without getting the hiccoughs. Kids, do not try this at home. |

Warm Vernors is a cold remedy that has followed me to the northleft corner of these lower 48 states. Nothing better on a cold Columbia River Valley night..... .....except maybe a shot of rum..... |

Ah, the memories. Vernors warmed in a pot on the stove, with a touch of lemon and/or honey, depending on your particular ailment, could cure most anything. I sometimes wonder how my grandmother figured all these things out. |
