After the great success of the recent "Where is this?" thread, I've been wondering where the video from this 1937 safety patrol short was shot? A preliminary viewing leads me to think mostly Eastside with what seem to be shots of the old tunnel under Jefferson to Belle Isle. This video has been posted here before, but I've been wondering if our resident researchers can help identify: 1. The location of the Sanders' store 2. The location and name of the school 3. Location of the street shots http://www.archive.org/details/SafetyPa1937 |

How can you not smile at those old films? Spotted a 522 Grand Blvd E street sign in there. Let's go! |

Here are two clips from the video: The first one looks very similar to Mackenzie HS, but doesn't quite match. I have no idea about the second school building. |

I miss that old tunnel under Jefferson. I would always honk my horn under there. |

You can try looking at this thread in the Detroit Memories section, and see if anything matches. School Architecture of Detroit, or Something Like That Please don't honk your horn in the tunnel. |
