This is the last I heard, from November. I'm not sure how it is progressing.

quote:

The long-vacant Pick-Fort Shelby Hotel, a recent symbol of the city's economic downturn, soon could see new life.

After three years of planning, developers expect to start rebuilding the hotel in January and reopen in fall 2007, said Rich Curto, principal of RSC & Associates LLC, a real estate investment and development firm in Chicago. The company intends to finalize the deal by year's end.

I checked the website for RSC & Associates and it is also under construction. But if yuo search Google, there are many hits for RSC doing projects - mostly in Chicago.

The "For Sale" signs are still up. You'd think if the project were a "go" at this point those signs would be replaced by something with RSC's name.

They put new padlocks on the front and it's covered with graffiti for Wayne Kounty. Other than that, no changes in forever.

There is a new heavy industrial door on the front surrounded by new plywood. Otherwise it looks exactly the same as it ever has.

Also of interest, there are a bunch of those Super Bowl XL window stickers in the Free Press Building. It also looks like someone has been cleaning out the ground floor.
