What did you think? The Stones were great, but this is the SUPERBOWL, it just seamed to be another Stones 3 song set, it needed MOTOWN!!!!! STEVIE and ARETHA should have been the halftime show........ |

OOoooh he makes a grown person cry. Give it up Mick. Detroit has great talent: Motown classics to the White Stripes one would think this could have been a real local show. Don't get me wrong I like old Stones stuff as much as other old classics but this just was a missed opportunity and not such a great performance. The Stones have had their day...GIVE IT UP! |

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Motown had its day too. And the entire pre-game show was Motown. I understand that this is the D and everything, but not ALL of the music has to be Motown. I thought the Stones were a good choice |

one should note, though, that there is a great difference between the Stones now and the Stones in the 1960's and early 70's. Their early albums are spectacular. When they were a British blues band, they were a far greater band |

The Stones were awful (but they are a great band Paint it Black is an amazing song) they should have had Eminem, Madonna, or Aretha...that would have been amazing. Then Madonna could have ripped a pic of Bush apart on stage ala Sinead with the pope. The game is getting good though! |

I would have liked Johnnie Bassett, Alberta Adams, Kenny Martin, Joe Weaver and 'Re, with maybe Kid Rock singin' some blues with Johnnie...pure homegrown stuff. The Stones sounded as rough as ever, a lot of their material was influenced by Det music anyway and blues in general. |

Hey - name a previous SuperBowl that covered the crowd better than this - Detroit was over the top, something for everyone who could afford a ticket or purchase what was advertised, and in a genius move, the D added a "vanilla" singer/dancer here and there for universal appeal. Peace, love, unity - SB XL had it all - and the press behaved and downplayed/ignored any "negatives" that happened in the D during the past 24 hrs, God bless 'em. Couldn't have been better - appealed universally to young & old alike. Hopefully some long term benefits for the city in return for all the thought and hard work. |

I like the Stones, but that halftime show was sorry, play 2 tired-ass songs that have been seen live on TV like a million times, then push some other song that now one has ever heard off. I thought the NFL wanted their halftimes shows to be special, and there absolutley not one unique thing about that show. very dissapointed. I don't know about that National Anthem either, I expected better. |

I was never a football fan in the past...watched it for the 1/2 time show & the ads. This year I was into the game for the 1st time. I am thrilled for Detroit's success this past week, the Stealers win and the cinderella story for our own home town Jerome Beavis "the Bus". Group hug for the 'D' and Pittsburgh too. |

I thought the Stones rocked. Most of you can only wish you'll look that good and be cranking up electric guitars in front of thousands of people at 60+ years old. Stevie was great too. |

I was one of those people who were on the field during the halftime show. While we were waiting for halftime we watched the pregame show on TV and the general consensus was that the orgy of Motown was cooler than the Stones. We all wished we could've been in the pregame show. We also thought it would've been cool for a Rolling Stones/ White Stripes collaboration, considering they both covered "Stop Breakin' Down". (Also, the acoustics on the field sucked. It'll be interesting to hear what it sounded like on TV). |

..because the Superbowl IS NOT ABOUT THE HOST CITY! So no, there shouldn't have been Motown acts. And after the Aretha Franklin fiasco (didn't she sound terrible? Much like the NBA finals national anthem of yesteryear), I'm glad they didn't. The Stones rocked! The Bigger Bang album is closer to Exile on Main Street and is a great album. Probably their best since then. Kudos to a great show. |

When the Stones came on we cranked up the TV loud and everything sounded great. I was actually stunned at how good and loud the guitar tone was. Wish they would have played "Bitch"! |

I'm a Stones fan, but I thought that halftime show didn't live up to potential. I dunno if it was the band, ABC, or just the sound system itself, but they sounded flat. |

Sound system will have a hard time keeping up with the crowd noise and acoustics of the building. Sound was a little off but it certainly wasn't The Stones fault. Pffft, the only thing I was on was 7UP and taco salad. |

I, too, was on the field next to the Rolling Stones stage and it was hard for us to hear the Stones singing yet alone hear if they were good! All of the speakers were facing out to the stadium crowd. It was fun to be there though! How disappointing to hear that most people said the songs weren't energetic enough and the sound quality was not good. I'll have to watch the tape today to see for myself. |

Goat is right, the Super Bowl is NOT about the host city, it's about the GAME. It should have nationwide appeal, not be this incestuous local show to appeal to the host crowd and ignore the other 80 million people watching. Imagine how ridiculous the halftime show would have been for last year's Super Bowl if only homegrown Jacksonville talent was used. It might have been interesting for the people of Jacksonville to see Fred Durst and Yellowcard (they're from Jacksonville) as the Halftime show, but the rest of us would have thrown our TVs out the window in disgust. |

I thought the sound for the RSs was really strange. Where were the background singers coming from ? None on stage. Bad choice of songs, tons of missing lyrics (beyond the sensor deleted ones). Keith rocked on the solos for Satisfaction. At times you could not hear Rons leads although he was clearly playing. I heard replays on the radio, and there was indeed some timing problems. Everybody was in tune and on pitch - well, cept Jagger, but he doesnt exactly sing notes. Strange and forgettable. I dont watch football, but I thought halftime events were supposed to be a big spectacular deal. This was like a querky Saturday Night Live performance. |

Thought the Stones did fine. Then again I was expecting them to be totally disappointing. Their extended version of "Satisfaction" at least showed some effort on their part to do more than just run through three tunes. Not much attack, but they have always been a bluesy, not metal, band. Plus it is a halftime show. If you had a hard rocking band up their like the Stripes live, most viewers would just think it noise anyways, particularly in a stadium setup. |

The Halftime show was not as disastrous as the pre-game show which, in turn, was not as disastrous as the "singing" of the national anthem which, in turn, was not as disastrous as the officiating of the game, ... |

So we had two back-2-back british imports to play at half time shows. The Rolling Stones concert was great @ Comerica Park. I wasn't impressed during the half time show. I think they need to come up with a better balance of jock rock. This "safe" thing is getting very tired. (Besides, I did like Paul McCartney's half time show better). |
