Well, they are in alphabetical order, which doesn't answer the question but may give clues to how he formulated the question - which in turn may lead to the answer, or not...

I have the answer! I got it! They are all in the neighborhood that Detroit Artist Gilda Snowden grew up in! Alden is the street directly behind Custer Elementary, where she attended, Baylis is the street behind LaSalle, where she lived, and she had good friends on Log Cabin!

every street has been cleaved by a freeway. In some cases one portion is merely an orphan block or two cut off from the rest of the street, in other cases the street continues for a while on both sides of the freeway. In some cases blocks were lost for the freeway construction.

How about they are all roads that were made discontinuous by the construction of the Lodge, and had ped bridges provided over the lodge instead of roadway bridges?

assuming my first guess is not what Mr. Lowell had in mind I'll make a second guess. Mr Lowell used the freeway overpasses/intersections/ped bridges etc. on these streets to take photos for this website.

I hit on that while driving down to LJ's on Wed. night. I thought it would take longer for you to all be unstumpted. Wrong. Should have known better.
