This is barely a Detroit issue, but I'm trying to prove a point to NDavies in the Bush:Car Company thread. How many miles do you actually drive while living and working in the Metropolitain Detroit area? I don't count, since I take at least two trips each year to California on the road. Minus those, I guess I'm at 35k, but I've nearly always clocked from 40 to 50k per year on ALL my cars. But my office is in my home and I visit most of my clients in theirs... Please indicate if this is the only vehicle you drive to work or not...I'm trying to establish an average from our e-community. |

I'm at 12,000 per year, my wife is at 25,000 per year, and most of my customers in the metro average 15,000. Gannon - no word yet - still trying to come up with something. Will call. |

I consider myself fortunate that I only live 4 miles from my job; Royal Oak to Ferndale and back. The drawback is that I drive a Mini Cooper, and sometimes WISH I could drive it more. I save the fun for trips up north, especially when I consider the traffic; it's hard to have fun in rush hour traffic on I-75! So my total is about 10,000 miles per year; work, non-work, vacations. |

Phoenix Metro: car 1: 12K/yr car 2: 10K/yr each are commuters. If your commute isn't 30mi each way you don't put 25K/yr on your car. |

When my wife and I were both working in Detroit, we totalled about 35,000 miles a year (between 2 cars). Now, we total about 20,000 (still 2 cars). One reason the number is still up is because we now tend to drive, rather than fly, if we're going anywhere within 1,000 miles. |

10,000 I walk to work but visit my family all over the Detroit area frequently. Without my family...maybe 5,000. A couple trips to GRap to visit friends. I grew up having my mom put 50-60,000 miles on the minivan in a year driving 5 kids to tournaments and college all the time. |
