What are some good movies which feature Detroit as a location? Four Brothers is a recent one... the only others I can think of are 8 mile, Detroit 9000, and Robocop (I think that was filmed in Texas or something though).

I saw a random movie on cable called "crossing the bridge" about some college age Detroiters in the 1970's smuggling drugs across the ambassador bridge. IMDB says the director was born in Detroit and went to Birmingham.

I have a friend who was in Hoffa as a child actress/extra.

Wasn't the last Samuel L. Jackson movie "The Man"
set in detroit? Did they film anything here?

Beverly Hills Cop was shot in Detroit, the beginning anyway.
Wasn't there a Jay Leno movie shot here also? I think at the Majestic.

Add 'The Island' to the list as well. A pretty new movie. It was just shown a few months ago, if my memory serves me correctly.

In Broken's list above, put a note next to "Bird on a Wire" that says "partly set in Detroit, not filmed here."

The question was movies that were featured here. So I guess that differs from being based on Detroit against being filmed in Detroit. There were some shots of Detroit in Four Bros though

Poletown Lives! Which stars Detroit's now defunct Poletown.

The DVD can be checked out of the WSU, EMU, UofM, UofD, Margyrove, or Library of Michigan libraries.

For some reason it isn't at the DPL. Hmm.

I always thought Robocop was filmed in Toronto, but upon further research it was filmed in Dallas Texas, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Betsy is a classic, with so many authentic shots of Detroit circa 1974.

Its a must see.
