I saw them putting up the sign Monday morning as I was taking care of buisiness in the neighborhood...

Seems like a new club. I like the concept of it...

Of course you do Stylin, you're a Communist.

It is a cool sign, though.

Someone should tell them that the E's are backwards.

No one will ever take them seriously with such bad grammar...

I've eaten lunch at Maverick's twice this month. Food was decent. Service was less than decent. The highlight was the waffle fries with the sandwiches. The place is classy. It's no Woodward Coney Island, but classy nontheless

Arrgghhh, I dropped this two weeks ago on another thread and nobody even took notice.

https://www.atdetroit.net/forum/mes sages/5/62119.html?1135549808

No respect, no respect.

Anyways, I believe tic-tak from 95.5 is involved in its creation. It's supposed to be pretty nice with a granite bar and stuff.

I'm not sure communism was mentioned solely because of the backwards "E"s. The color Red has always been associated with communism. Plus, I'm fairly certain that in recent history you could have found a number of Communists in Red Square, one of Moscow's most famous landmarks.

I heard that GWB is going to tap the phone there. He put 2 and 2 together and figured they are working for Castro trying to get Cuban cigars into the US.

But Panson, they switched the R's around not the E's... it's totally not the same thing.

Good find Panson, what a rip off. Probably a cheaper copy too -- buy the E's from stock and just turn them upside down rather than having to custom build. These folk are thinking like capitalists.

The One in Vegas has a bartop made of Ice with red lights shining through it from underneath. Kind of funny to see your drink slides around on the top without moving. Also funny to see where something warm must have been put down on it, like the indent of a Rock Glass.

Looks pretty nice, although probably a little too trendy for my taste. I thought it was interesting that for girls it's 18+, but 21+ for guys. Sucks to be the underage boyfriend of one of those girls.

I'm not normally a fan of dresscodes, but I love the:

No popped collars
No snotty attitudes (yeah right)
No Ugg boots

So why was there a $10 cover to get in last Saturday night at midnight to join all 12 of the others in there?

Semi-unrelated note.

My office had one of our Christmas parties at Mavericks this year. It was freezing cold so even though I could have walked from my parking spot for work I instead wanted to test out their valet. After waiting about 3 minutes for someone to come back I got out of the car and handed the guy my valet key. He said "Ten Dollars." I said "What?" He said "Ten Dollars" I said, "Are you kidding?" He said, "This is Detroit baby, get used to it" I said "Uh, nevermind and don't call me baby."

I found a spot off street about a block up for free.

I was completely taken aback. For a resturaunt that has already closed once, you're going to charge $10 for valet and then be rude about it?

Susanarosa, if I was the valet I'd be a little rude to you as well. How many times did he have to tell you "Ten Dollars" before you figured it out? Would you have questioned a valet like that if you were in New York, Chicago, or LA?

I actually liked his response, minus the "baby" part. It demonstrates a confidence that Detroit has arrived and is now "big time." Susanarosa, I wouldn't sweat it.

Gee Royce, maybe it's because I thought he might have been kidding with me...?

Anyway, I still stand by my point that ten dollars for a valet at a sub-par resturaunt in Detroit (as much as we want, we're not Chicago...especially with all the available parking we have here in Detroit) that has already suffered financial diffulties is absurd.
