Wow,

That's just steps away from me. When I looked out there, I saw nothing. How'd you come up with that intersection?

That Wrangler driving through the plate glass doors had to be the most immature marketing ploy I've ever seen. Friggin' morons. Who cleaned up all that glass?

Ray1936, I couldn't agree more! What with a lot of "drive-in" crimes where the criminals smash their cars thru a business facade, and then back out and drive off with the loot.

Nothing like showing off that a Jeep is a great vehicle for the discriminating "smash and grab" buyers of today....

I bet Jay Leno, Jon Stewart, Saturday Night Live and The Chappelle Show could have a field day with that commercial!

Something else must have just happened at around 11:45 pm, as 8 or 9 cop cars just went by at a very high rate of speed heading down Grand River towards downtown.

Well may be a seperate issue sport but in my neck of the woods there was just a brawl that broke out. Lots of screaming and yelling... not sure what was going on and 9 cop cars seems excessive but I do live right off of Grand River and Woodward.

Gistock, the helluvit is that I'm out here in Vegas, and it was one of the lead stories on the local NBC affiliate.
Jeez, it was good to see the Detroit Auto Show get national exposure, but did it have to include the "how to B&E and pull out an ATM machine" show and tell? You're right.

When I saw the footage of the Wrangler, the first thing that popped into my head--when Bob Lutz and Coleman Young drove the Grand Cherokee through the Cobo window.

(Anyone see the footage before the Wrangler drove through the window? It looked like a woman accidently walked in front of the car before it made its final approach.)

How do you practice something like that?

I'm sure they built a full-scale mock-up out at the proving grounds over the last six months.

Chrysler at one time was reported to have a full-size mock-up of Geddes Road with all of it's turns, twists, and potholes at one of their proving grounds in the area. Never forgot telling one of their engineers how that road was one of my Michigan favorites and he shared that they apparently loved it too, enough to copy it.

I guess Hines was just too long to emulate...or the older unfixed stretch of Rouge Parkway...but these folks can copy anything they want...Cobo into the Pontch is a snap.

I figured it was something local to the area so I posted my location. I wasn't out on the street, though.

If I remember correctly, they had Geddes at the proving grounds when I was there in 2003.
