I am getting a group of Detroit friends together and we are going on a bar crawl this evening. What is the Centaur like? I have not been there yet? Thanks |

Centaur is an interesting place. Clean and classy, with pool tables upstairs, and huge comfortable chairs. The atmosphere is great, with everything from young twentysomethings to thirty, forty and fiftysomethings. The music isn't too loud, the waitresses are pretty good looking (aren't they all after a few pints of newcastle?) and the view was great. The only problem I remember was the expense of the drinks. Maybe I'm just a bit old fashioned, but I consider 7.50 for a vodka tonic to be a little steep. All things considered, check it out. If you don't like it, you can always stumble across the street to the Town Pump. Centaur.. do it... do it... |

Nicer place, but no dress code per se. I'd recommend dressing a little nicer so as not to stick out. No cover. WMU is right about cocktail prices, but keep in mind that it's the sort of place that has Absolut as it's "Well" vodka. It's gorgeous on the inside. |

How would I know its you? Just look for "other?" LOL I'm gonna kick the night off watching the Pistons at the DBC, my usual haunt. The game starts at 7:30, so I suppose I could stop in to Town Pump for one. Damned if I can remember what you owe me a drink for, but I recall making a comment you got a kick out of. |

Centaur is nice, nice atmosphere, etc, but a few weeks a go we stopped by only to be told there would be a $15 cover wor the ladies, and $20 for the guys. We were really surprised as we've been there more than a few times and never paid a cover. Let me know. Is this a super bowl thing sean? You know, I heard a rumor that Ron Rice of the Lions had purchased Centaur (not the building, just the bar) from Sean. Shit, I'm gonna be royally pissed if they are charging cover. Very Very pissed. Well, at least Pulse isn't charging a cover. |

went to Centaur last week. They let us in, we ordered drink and 15 minutes later told us there was a private party, we needed to finish our drink and get the fuck out. From this point on they lost my business and the 10/15 people I always bring to downtown places. Slows......rejoice |

Sport - Hmmmmm I got there at 7:30 (late) we sat up front not near the TV in a window area - as you walk in the door we were straight ahead. There were six guys and one woman (blond) who arrived around 8:00. Sorry I missed you bud. |

"Lots" isn't the word I would use, but yes, I do have hair now. Though I never took my cap off when I made my quick check of the place. It was closer to 7:15 though. |

Centaur is one of my favorite places. Me and my girlfriend have been there many times and have always had a good time. Never been had my ID checked and never had to pay a dime to come in! It's kinda a laid back place and not a club scene. Its a nice place to take a date and actually have a conversation! I'll be pi$$ed if they're chargin cover now! A night at Centaur and then head over to Lafayette for coneys is a good night. Got my gf started on coneys that way! |

Why would they need a cover when they charge $6 for a bottle of Labatt's blue. Nice place, unfortunately, at those prices I won't be back. |

Ron Rice can't even pay his child support, I doubt he's buying MORE bars, but who knows. Last I knew he still owned....Envy I believe. |

Ron Rice rumor as referenced by Sharmaal...just wondering. the place is doing well, and the topic happened to come up with a few different groups of people i spoke with...i think its a great idea personally - start up a bar, let it get popular for a few months, and then sell it for a profit and move on to the next venture... |
