Initially, I thought that this sounds like a really stupid place to be hosting the media at. I would think it would make more sense to have them at the RenCen, which is where the media center is located...then I thought about it...if the media are located in the same place as where they post their stories, then you'll run into a problem where that will be the only place they will end up staying.

Having them stationed out in Livonia gives the Host Committee the opportunity to take them through different places and show off the gems in the city and in the metro area. It might show off Metro Detroit as a region and not merely one city. I dunno...what are others thoughts?

i have a hard time believing that 2400 media members will be in Livonia...The Ren Cen is booked and that has 1300 rooms, i thought only reserved for NFL/Media use...

Shouldn't they be in Southfield? Isn't that where most of the network affiliates are?

Come on man, you haven't come to expect smartass comments from me by now? The bus comment was such. Wonk, come on man, lets not fool ourselves. They are staying in Livonia because its the whitest of America's white suburbs as well as being consistantly one of the safest.

I was thinking the very same thing, Rberlin. Why aren't they in Southfield?

They lambasted Jacksonville for having nothing to do.......can you imagine the boring time they'll have in Livonia or Southfield?

I don't know any exact numbers, but I can tell you that the NW corner of Livonia is home to quite a few hotels. Infact, Marriott owns 5 hotels (3 of which were built in the last ~5 yrs) within a mile of eachother by Laurel Park Mall (I-275/6-mile).

{ Detroit Marriott-Livonia | Courtyard by Marriott | Fairfield Inn by Marriott| Residence Inn by Marriott| Townplace Suites by Marriott}

(not to mention the Embassy Suites, Amerisuites, Sheraton (Novi) and Hampton Inn which are all just up a mile or two along I-275)

Of course this isn't to say that Livonia is the best place to stay for a "Detroit" Superbowl...

Fuck Them. Why are we stressing over this? Sorry, I don't see what the problem is. I can't change it. I can't make them stay somewhere else. I can only make their visit more enjoyable when I have contact with them. If they have a bad time, It wasn't our fault. I'm not going to stress over other peoples safe decisions.
