http://www.candgnews.com/edito rial%5C2005%5Cdecember%5C21%5C review%5Cshortfilm.html According to Keeley, the festival will take place March 19 at the Main Art Theatre. On that day, there will be three different showings — 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. — and each will last about an hour and a half. At each showing, several short films will be shown with each viewing containing different films. Keeley said that people can attend one showing or go to all three. Experts in the film industry will judge all films that are shown. Awards will be given to the directors of the films that take first, second and third place. Audience members will also get a chance to pick their favorite film, which, according to Keeley, can sometimes vary greatly from a film critic’s first choice. The film that wins the audience participation award will also win a prize. Keeley said that for the next couple of months, he, Menko and several other judges will review the short films that are sent in. Keeley encourages anyone interested in submitting a film to do so. He added that the films cannot be more than 30 minutes long or have had a budget exceeding $30,000. The pair will also continue to garner sponsorships. So far, Sony Media, SEMC Group and Kodak have all joined on. |
