.....and I know I'm showing my age by calling it that.

There was a thread a while back about its planned rebranding and reopening. Did it ever reopen, if so, what is it, and are there any reports of the quality of the lodging?

Isn't this the one that is now a Holiday Inn?

It did indeed reopen as a Holiday Inn Express. I haven't stayed there, but the Washington Grille restaurant is good and the lobby looks very nice. They seem to be doing a decent amount of business. I see big tour buses in front of it all the time.

It looks completely brand new and up to date inside. It has a pool and very comfy beds.

I have stayed there. The hotel has been renovated and the rooms are nice, restaurant is good. Typical Holiday Inn Express with free breakfast. Room rate (I paid $89) is very reasonable for Downtown Detroit. I would definitely stay there again.

I work near there. Every couple of months a woman from the hotel comes over with brochures and asks us to recommend the hotel anytime we can. She's professional and polite and I'm impressed that the hotel has someone like her on staff.

I just can't believe, with that Holiday Inn Express there, that anybody from out of town stays at the Ramada ...the prices are about the same, which is nuts!
