Hope this isn't a duplicate of something already mentioned here.

I found the optimism refreshing.

The movie brought back some cool memories and was a nice optimistic effort - too bad the posters on the site are completely negative as are too many others...

I sampled this movie in a music video:

Hunchentoot, (IF that is your real name) that was great. Good job.

"Hunchentoot" is a giant spider from a Frank Zappa musical. So I guess "Joe" works for me just as well.

Trivia: the faceplate seen in this video actually WAS stolen, along with the whole car and stuff inside of it. But that happened in Hamtramck, so clearly it's not a problem. Haw!

It is a very interesting video, thanks for sharing. It is interesting to see the things they include. I was impressed with the amount of infrastructure that was shown. In modern days, it seems like those sorts of things are left by the wayside.

It makes me wonder what sort of things King Kwamee would include if they were filming a similar video for 2006. Campus Martius? Compuware? Revitalized Woodward, Opera House, Fox? New houses in corktown and on the eastside? rebuilt freeways? I bet it would not mention a closed Historical Museum or Belle Isle Aquaraium. "Detroit The City with the BEST parking lots!!" My goodness. Just amusing to think about.

well the Historical Museum is not going to close.

And while I disagree with the Aquarium closing, since it only saves up to 500,000 per year, and certainly was hoping for a Hendrix victory last month, no one is going to like the decisions the mayor will have to make in these time!

You're very welcome. That film was recently referenced on news:mi.misc so I thought I'd try a little cross-pollinating to this more active forum.

One wonders what advice those eager 1965 people would have for Detroit today. Maybe "You think you have it bad? Look what we had to start with!" or maybe even "Where's my city, dude?"

There's another film on archive.org made as a bid for the Olympics featuring the mayor and Gov. Romney, but that's a lot more talk and a lot less show. The governor is kind a jerk towards the end, too.

This one's hokey to the max. It's a promo about the Detroit police department circa 1951:

Hokey, but I enjoyed it. It's long.
