Howdy All, So, some Detroit Music is pretty easy to buy, specifically the groups signed to major label deals. I can (and have) gone to Circuit City and picked up the Slum Village CD. But what about some of the local acts that aren't as big? What about the Dirtbombs? Usually you can buy them from Amazon, but what about locally? |

The pure detroit store downtown has some titles as well as well as Young Soul by the Majestic Theater. I usually buy directly from the bands either at their shows or via their websites. I could see Record Town in Ferndale having local stuff as well. |

There is a place in Roseville, MI on Gratiot Avenue, called "Melodies and Memories. They have all types of music and there is a possibility that they could have some local Detroit music as well. |

Shantinique records. I believe that they have a few locations in the city. May depend upon the type of music that you are looking for. |

The Shantinique locations that I'm aware of are on E. Harper near McClellan and the other Shantinique location is on Woodward near Davison next door to Miley and Miley Shrimp Shack. |

The best place to buy music on vinyl IN the D is definitely Pure Detroit Vinyl. But if you're looking for CDs of local artists, check out Record Time in Ferndale and Roseville. And yes, Young Soul Rebels on Woodward has closed. I heard C-Pop raised the rent! |

Harmonie House on Woodward between 11 and 12 Mile Rds. in Berkley still carries a lot of local releases. They've always been good about that!! |

If you want your Detroit music on vinyl check out People's Records on Forest b/t 2nd and 3rd. They have a large selection of random Detroit classics, and the owner, Brad, is a really great guy. |
