Don't know if anyone saw it, but there was a Mike Illitch interview that ran on the AP wire Sunday night about 6pm.

Douglasm, please expand on your post. Do you get to see it or just hear about it?

I had no idea Mike and Marian had that many children. Looks like Detroit "royalty" at its best and worst.

No problem, Goat. It was an Associated Press story dated Sunday, December 18, at 6:11pm, written by Sarah Karush. I obtained it through my internet carrier. Try www.charter.net/index.php hit "more" in business news, then page through until you find it. I don't have the address for the actual story, it's longer than my screen will hold. It's really not much of a story, sounds a little more like a puff piece. If I see it in either the Seattle PI or the Times...it would show up on a slow news day....I'll post a link.

Mike Illitch was interviewed in the Macomb Daily last week.

This is a pretty aggressive media push for what is normally a reclusive family. My gut tells me something is coming. I'm guessing it's one of two things. Either they're going to announce plans to rehab a couple of buildings after the holidays and a few weeks before the Super Bowl or they're going to announce the razing of a couple. It could also be both. This much I am sure of though, it's not business as usual over in Pizza, Pizza land.

This other article offers some hints of an upcoming announcement regarding the Ilitch's buildings...

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs .dll/article?AID=/20051220/NEW S06/512200348

quote:

Cullen said one reason for the cleanup is the Super Bowl, which will be played several blocks away. Another reason is an assessment of the Ilitches' various downtown properties being conducted by Atanas Ilitch, the new president of the family real-estate arm, Olympia Development.

Ilitch is working on projects for some of the family's vacant buildings and land, Cullen said, adding: "We have some exciting things to announce" early next year.

Well I'm praying that in a few years we can put Atanis Ilitch up on the same historic preservation pedistal that we have Chuck Forbes and Dr. David DiChiera on..... for saving downtown buildings, especially theatres.
