Did anyone hear his speach on election night? He said
"I thank the boys from Chicago".
I still wonder about that comment.

Chicago politics was (and still are in many regards) the quintessential example of big city corruption. You'd think he'd be a bit more thoughtful before saying something like that. lol

Currie wants a recount? For what I am wondering? I do not understand why people like Jackie Currie and Alonzo Bates can't admit to their wrong doing? Jackie needs to sit down somewhere and shut up.I bet after the heat is cleared in the election department, the Feds will discover that Jackie never did reform herself, even after she got caught up in election fraud with her late Husband. She have wasted enough tax payers dollors, and for her to get a recont that will be more tax dollors paid out.

I think that what will happen with Hendrix's recount (I didn't want to interrupt the mudslinging on the Hendrix thread, so I'm posting this here) is that they will NOT do an entire city recount.

Based on what the dailies are saying, my guess is that they will probably do some northwest Detroit precincts, and see if there is much of a difference between the election totals and the recount totals. If they are close then I don't think Hendrix will continue with other areas of Detroit, and thus keeping the cost much lower than the $250,000 estimate.

On the otherhand if there are sizeable differences in the 2 counts, then you can bet an entire city recount will take place. But my guess is that the 2 sets of numbers will be pretty close, making a complete recount unnecessary.

I think that a partial recount of the northwest side will have a 2nd benefit. It may lay to rest the urban legend of tampered results from that part of town.

I feel that this whole recall and recount bs started when these crooks who was running for a City office losted, and yet they felt that they was mis-treated by the general public, and it became a new way to spend more tax dollors. Now Dearing wants a recount, and to me there's something wrong with the entire BIG picture. Our election system will never be the same thanks to Jackie Currie and her Recount crew.As far as Hendrix's votes go I believe Hendrix is a sore loser, and as far as the Mayor the Brother won the election, and if we all would take the time out to think.....do we really believe Hendrix would make a good Mayor? Its sad to say but the is to many wannabe chiefs and no Indians.

Hey folks, I sincerely think that Hendrix won by more than approximately 48%.. What gets me, is that if you shade in the districts and precincts that Kilpatrick allegedly won, the areas shaded in for him are FAR GREATER than 53%. Since 48 and 53 are very close in number, the map should like darn near 50/50. KK looks more like 75%! Something is wrong, something is very wrong.

What is done in the dark, will show in the light!

On another note: Don't mean to appear cruel, but William X's writing is very difficult to read and to follow a complete thought.

Also, Last week, the board approved the recount requests of mayoral candidate Freman Hendrix and Board of Education candidate Mary Faust Hammons.

The recounts, which will be conducted at the same time, will likely begin on Thursday, no later than Friday and will be conducted in the Secretary of State's Detroit office building in the New Center area. YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!! Hendrix will be mayor in Detroit NO TIME!

iloveDetroit I think what happen was as people was returning to Detroit, the 100,000 was leaving. Yet the BIG TIME money people have invested in rebuilding Downtown Detroit.Look at the three casinos.Look at the $160.000 dollors homes being built South of the New center area, and look how money is running the homeless into a mental cornor just so Superbowl visitors can spend their money. What's going to happen once Superbowl day is over?

People see stuff happening downtown and get all excited. Where it needs to happen is the neighborhoods. We need familys! It is nice that downtown is doing well and young folks are moving in (it is a start) but we need to fill up the neighborhoods.

Amen IloveDetroit, Those are the most for real words I ever read on this forum. However these is other good points being made, and there is always someone who love to mess things up.Our neighbor hoods is the most important items that should be on the City's Administrations agenda. Most posters on here never been in the neighborhoods, except to just ride through to have something to complain about, and you are so right IloveDetroit when you mentioned the neighborhoods.Psip, you know that the plan to fix up Downtown to 8 mile was a pre superbowl plan (a put on),and the investers is hoping that people from all over the world would come to see a new image. Now all the crooks who losted the election wants a recount, which is a sad situation, and waste of time and money. Jackie disqualified herself trying to be super slick, and now she's crying for a recount, and you Hendrix supporters won't give up hope will you?

can we quit with the kwame people vs. hendrix people discussions? about 20 people in the entire city (seemingly all posting on this forum) are brooding about this & no one else gives a hoot.

It is amazing to me that under the "Law and government" section of the "Detroit" entry in Wikipedia, over half is devoted to Jackie Currie and her questionable doings.
The details clearly indicate that this was entered by someone local.
I would encourage the forumers who are often made privy of more positive aspects (past of present) about the CoD to go to that site and post them.
