Click on the link below to see my photos of some major Canadian urban decay in downtown Brantford, Ontario. This is one of the most decayed cities in Canada.

I'd equate Brantford's downtown to Saginaw and Flint. I briefly drove through their downtown once on the way to Toronto, and there were some people walking around, but I was somewhat surprised to see the boarded up storefronts.

Nothing like Flint's downtown. It is much larger. for the amount of population Flint once had our downtown is tiny. Pretty much just 50 square blocks anymore with about 3/4 of those devoted to parking. I know it was bigger at one time but not much. The only comparison I saw was the stupid faux storefronts that have just recently been removed in flint because the buildings are being fixed up.

If you think that this city looks as bad as Flint or Saginaw you must not have been through either of them in about 50 years.

I grew up in Saginaw. Sorry our opinions don't match. I felt they had the same feel upon visiting Brantford.

Great pics, Mike. I love streets like the one with the shoe store "Brant Art Shoe." One-way streets that lead into a main street have always caught my eye. The two buildings on the corner of the street remind me of the building that houses Cliff Bells on Park Avenue in Detroit.

BTW, Mike, what day were these pictures taken on? If it was a Sunday, I can understand the lack of people. If, however, this was a weekday afternoon, then it would be scary to not have pedestrians walking around.

The white folks in Brantford, ONT. are creating their own little ghetto. There's going to be lots of vacant and abandon buildings in no time.

Ecorse TWP. had become the cities of Allen Park, Lincoln Park, Southgate. River Rouge become its own city after broken away from Ecorse in 1929 and Detroit annexed a small 1x 2.5 miles of the township in 1917.
Detroit city council should annex all of Ecorse TWP. and grab some booming industries.

Great idea, grow the bankrupt Detroit city government. Maybe not such a great idea after all.
