It was banned at first, which is what the band wanted for the notoriety. Song was written by Rupert Holmes, who later wrote the Pina Colada song.

I woke up this morning with this song running around in my head - "Mary Did You Know" written and sung by Mark Lowry & Buddy Greene. I think it's the best arrangement and vocals of this song that I've heard to date.

It's odd that that video launches into brass instruments as it shows Japanese art. I don't know of any Japanese brass instruments.

I just found this gem looking for Danny Barnes videos. If you ever liked the Grateful Dead this is a must listen. Dannys such a great lyricist, and his banjo playing is pretty damn good also. His banjo is overpowered by the Waybacks a bit until about 5:30 but then he lets loose.

Now Ive got to get me some Waybacks.

About the Waybacks:

Look for them at Merlefest doing Led Zepplin with John Cowan, 2007, I think. Steve Coyle, the guitar player-frontman has gone off on his own since then, changing the sound of the band a bit.

And when you get to Merlefst, look for Sam Bush. Mighty fine!

Apologies if I'm duplicating, I haven't read the whole thread.

Looks like Bruce has a day off before or after the Toronto show. I wonder who might get that date... Detroit? Montreal? Buffalo? Ottawa?
Currently listening to the tail end of Black Sabbath in Quebec City '83, digitizing a first generation casette. Ian Gillan singing for Sabbath is still a guilty pleasure, but only live stuff...
I actually want to get to a couple of Cramps shows in recorded in '92 and '94 while I figure out a decent Lux tribute for my next radio show.

Dylan, Forever Young

With some moisture in my eyes, looking at my soon to be 17 year old son sleeping on the couch. He and his fellow team mates on the Farmington/Harrison Varsity Bowling Team took the Oakland County Championship today. They fought to the bitter sweet end, only a pin here and there deciding everything. These kids are amazing bowlers, you would have to see it to believe it!

Deteriorata

Deteriorata, by National Lampoon
quote:

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
Deteriorata, Deteriorata

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.

Rotate your tires.

Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself; and heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.

Know what to kiss - and when.

Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.

Wherever possible, put people on hold.

Be comforted, that in the face of all irridity and disillusionment, and despite the changing fortunes of time, there is always a big future in computer maintenance.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
Whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Remember the Pueblo.

Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate.

Know yourself. If you need help, call the FBI.

Exercise caution in your daily affairs, especially with those persons closest to you... That lemon on your left, for instance.

Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls would scarcely get your feet wet. Fall not in love, therefore, it will stick to your face.

Gracefully surrender the things of youth: the birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan - and let not the sands of time get in your lunch.

Hire people with hooks.

For a good time, call 606-4311, ask for Ken.

Take heart in the deepening gloom that your dog is finally getting enough cheese.

And reflect that whatever misfortune may be your lot, it could only be worse in Milwaukee.

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
Whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.

Therefore, make peace with your god, whatever you conceive him to be: hairy thunderer or cosmic muffin.

With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal, the world continues to deteriorate.

GIVE UP!

You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
Whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.
