I liked it (The Mist). The ending was unfair and shocking, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good ending. |

I'm about halfway through "North Country" with Charleze Theron. Basically, It's about the first women to work at the Taconite mines in Minnesota and the sexism that ensues. When I went to Welding school back in 1981, we had a woman that was the only woman there, amongst 20 guys. She was probably 100# soaking wet. We treated her like a little sister and helped her out as much as possible. What I don't get about this movie is why these guy's behave the way they do. Makes me feel bad about being a guy. |

That was pretty funny. At first I thought the one guy was trying to do the high-on Brad Pitt a la True Romance, but he brought it around to his own character. The guy with the neck brace stole the show for me though. |

I have seen the movie, "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" Big on Cinematography, but really short on dialogue, almost to the point of a stupor. If you want to see every cinema graphic trick known to man in a movie, this is it. But to some, It's really worth it. |

I guess I'm a little late to the party, but I just finished watching the new "Casino Royale" James Bond movie. It's a good action flick, but my question is - Which do you like better, the old "Tongue in Cheek" James Bonds, or the new, dark, "Terminator", James Bond ? |

It was weak, imo. I think that they need to go back to the old James Bond where every movie stood on itself, chock full of new gadgets, etc. Bad ass gadgets make a good Bond movie. That, and super hot women. That has been slightly lacking in the last 2. I think that the Bond producers have been influenced by the Bourne movies; they want a darker Bond now, as well as a continuing story line, neither of which helped the last movie. And don't get me wrong, I think Daniel Craig is a great pick for Bond. He rocked it in Layer Cake. Sadly, the writing has not been there, especially in Quantom of Solace. |

Aside from The Redford, I haven't been in a theatre since the 80's. The only reason I went then was my nephew wanted to see Wayne's World, which was fun. I love old movies. African Queen, Marty, The Hustler and Days of Wine and Roses to name a few. Films like these, I'll watch any chance i get. |

Rented the movie "Flyboys", great movie, and when I see it for sale in the future, I will buy it, for a "Keeper". A little back story, Two Lafayette Escadrille fliers, James Norman Hall and Charles Nordhoff, co-authored the world-famous Mutiny on the Bounty (1932) which has been filmed three times. I don't know why, but when I was a kid, (8 Years old), I was obsessed with drawing aerial combats with these planes.

Cc sounds like a draft dodger. "Not served in the military by choice", "forced servitude". His comments regarding your being anti military sure sounded like he was insulting you, then he switches sides to say he is in effect anti military, but in a previous post he believes the government should only provide for our military defense???????????????? |

CC and Cheney were hanging out in the undisclosed location lol. Just saw "The Watchmen" last night. After reading the graphic novels before, I think it could have been an HBO Series of 12...like the books were...Kind of like Band of Brothers because there is just SOOOOOO much... but they did VERY well...I actually really enjoy the 'Graphic Novel to Movie' slant more than the 'Comic Book to Movie'... Still...GREAT movie, I would recommend it. |

Just finished watching Werner Herzog's "Rescue Dawn". The true story of the American Navy pilot Dieter Dengler, who was shot down over Laos, held captive, and escaped, in 1965. The things that these actors portrayed, are incredible in their own right. The actor Jeremy Davies, looked like a surviver from Auschwitz. 98 ponds of skin and bones. Simply amazing, for these people to go that far, to maintain accuracy for a movie. This movie is to be seen, to be believed. |

I just watched "Kings of the Sun" on WDIV 4.2 OTA, and was blown away by this movie I have never seen or heard of before. A cast of thousands and historically accurate as much as possible. The battle scenes were awesome and used thousands of indigenous warriors. Watch this if you get the chance. "Kings of the Sun is a 1963 movie directed by J. Lee Thompson set in Mesoamerica at the time of the conquest of Chichen Itza by Hunac Ceel. The story is about Mayan refugees who sail to the Mississippi River Valley and lay the foundation for the Mississippian culture complex."
quote:In this historical adventure saga, Balam (George Chakiris) is the son of the ruler of a Mayan tribe who use wooden swords. His father is killed in battle against a steel-blade swinging rivals led by Hunac Ceel (Leo Gordon) and Balam succeeds to the throne, but is convinced by his advisers--including Richard Basehart as the head priest-- to lead his followers off the Yucatan, sail to the American Gulf Coast region, so they might regain their strength and fight again another day. This new land, though, is a province occupied by an Indian tribe led by Black Eagle (Yul Brynner), and they are none too pleased about these strange, uninvited immigrants. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K ings_of_the_Sun This link mentions 15,000 extras and they used actual museum artifacts for realism. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/robertsiegel/siegel042808.html (Message edited by Bigb23 on March 18, 2009) |
