1klsn...can't say I was all that familiar with the places being mentioned here, but the overall scene is foreign to me. Don't recognize anything. Great pics, though.

And my present favorite - The Jerusalen Gardens. Great food, cheap prices. A difficult find in present day A2.

Well Stone, a lot of years have passed. There are times when I'm around A2 and I look around and think it's not very familiar to me. Time and perspectives have changed. You haven't been here for years so it's not surprising it's unfamiliar to you. As much as it's changed, I think you'll get the feel for it when you arrive.

BTW, my photo and post #1128 is Mr. Flood's Party and Leopold Blooms from about 25 years ago. Compare it to my photo and post #1133 from today.

Too bad I only have an hour left on the computer. I envy all of you who had the chance to even step foot in the GarWood. I have to make this a daily habit to read this thread. Not only do I learn about the past I get to see places I have been to in A2 which have changed.Like the Pretzel Bell. Thanks to all.

On John Colliers blog there's a great shot of Victor kickin it on a couch. Is there someone crashed out on the couch in the background?

Stnfrnt, It looks like someone on that couch but I don't think it is. A bit to small. Probably the remnants of someone that slept there. Boy, that couch that Victor's sitting on. Under the right hand cushion was a great spot to store goodies during parties. That's where I pulled the bottle of wine from the morning after the last big party. There's something about that photo that just pulls me back through time and into the ballroom.

I don't know if it's the same couch, but I remember sitting right there on a couch smoking doobies with the guy from the Fisher mansion, his bodyguards and an FBI agent. That was the night the guy got the munchies, gave Fergie a $100 bill and he went out and bought a $100 worth of McBurgers. The guy had never had one before, was high and loved them.

does anyone know how to complete the "post comments" section on John's blog ? it asks for a "profile" when making a comment... ?

That blog is a beauty, isn't it. Thanks again, John, great stuff!
Gash you're right about someone asleep on that sofa.
I really wish we could enlarge that last shot of the ballroom, the one where people are hanging out of the master bedroom windows.
Stnfrnt, isn't Peatie wearing your hat in that one pic of her by the pool table?

I don't know Gash. I was looking at the large version of the photo. If that is a person, they're a wee bit small. In fact their head is about the same size as a schnauzers. Their body must have wilted over night too. I think, blanket and small pillow that looks like a face. The couch in back on the right has a really skinny person on it. I can almost see Neil sticking his head out of the organ pipe curtains and smiling.

Gash, just my opinion. Who knows?

Old_guy, if you "save" the enlarged version and then zoom in, sure looks like a small blond girl to me.

True, I cropped that area and blew it up, but... The only thing I can think of is that maybe it was one of, well, I don't want to start this all over again, but maybe that one guy that lived there's overnight guests. You know ,somebody that didn't want the free fly swatter. A wee youngin'.

I found out that the photo I used of the mansion to paint the Gar Wood piece (for the invitation) was in deed from J Collier..so my apology to him for not putting the Collierian name at the bottom right...(I had put Oklahoma's initials as I thought thats who shot the photo, but, will leave it there anyway)...
