So are Bushmark and Gus. Throw Candy in that dream and you've really got something. Don't know what it is but you've got it.

OG...where's that outboard now?

Robin Seymor was living in a very upscale condo right on the ocean here in Redondo Beach. I worked at the Redondo Food Mart and he'd come in and get a week's supply of Grey Goose. He's got a daytime job; he's doin' alright. Makes infomercials.

Hey Margie,
that version of John Lee Hooker & Bonnie Raitt doing "Im in the Mood" was very sweet. It just about brought tears to my eyes at the end there, sensing their friendship and knowing he's gone. Here is a site that shows where his house was when he lived in Detroit: http://www.paradisevalleyblues .com/tour/hook0040.html

Oh yes, and I'm glad you found the link to John's Carpet House useful.

Old_guy - I love the old motors. And I'm now the proud owner of an antique Johnson. I just wish it was a boat motor.

Whaler, I'm sure I was on the Bob Lo boats during those years because, as with most Detroiters, it was an annual outing. I don't know what Bob Lo boat parties you're talking about in particular. I went on many 'Moonlight Cruises' which didn't go to the island, they just meandered up and down the Detroit River from Lake Erie to Lake St. Clair. Some cruises featured local bands. I also went on the only two 'Great Bob Lo Boat Races' between the University of Michigan and Notre Dame, which preceded the UoM, ND footbal games. The cruises originated with tailgate parties in the parking lot of the Detroit Harbor Terminals on West Jefferson and proceeded to a race on the river. I don't remember who won. I have souvenirs I'll post if I can find and transfer them to my internet computer.

Does anyone remember the cages on the Bob Lo boats? If you got out of line on the boats or the island, they'd snatch your ass up and put you in the cage until time to return to home port. Then the Detroit Cops would show up dockside and haul yer ass off. It was kinda funny. I remember at least two times when they had people in the cages. Once, the DPD TMU (Tactical Mobile Units) hauled the perpetrators off and another time it was the BIG 4 did the dirty work. This was in the 60's and 70's.

Stone, that drawing of the Bob Lo boat is cool but looks mighty top heavy. Someone lost their perspective. It's cute anyway.

Yeah Stone, there's plenty of fish in Ford Lake. The ice is gone, fish are jumping and boats are flying. As soon as the ice slushes, the fishermen are out - lots of them. Sometimes I get up at dawn to watch them fish off of our docks. I drink my coffee as they float by the tips of the docks with the current, casting 20 - 30 feet toward shore. They seem to catch a lot of Bass. Other times they tell me they're catching Walleyes. I no longer fish, just observe.
