The closest waffle house to Detroit is in Toledo. Willing to drive?

How about the Original House of Pancakes, Southfield or Grosse Pointe?

Best waffles I've ever had are from the Fly Trap in Ferndale - gingerbread waffles with cinnamon syrup & sauteed apples. Yum!

A friend of mine who likes waffles goes to the Sunrise Cafe on the northeast corner of Telegraph/10 Mile Rd. in Southfield.

Big Boy's Belgian waffle is pretty good, but I wish the same could be said for the rest of their breakfast menu.

Sunrise Cafe- maybe they have the Waffle House Lego recipe?

The Sunrise Cafe on NW Highway in Southfield was opened as a Waffle House in the 70's ! It didn't last long as a Waffle House, they retreated back to the southern states market they knew better.

Not many places have regular waffles anymore, most serving the Belgian style, which has too much air in them for me. Try the Omelet and Waffle Cafe in Plymouth.

I think Sunrise is gone. Last time I went by there, there was a big for lease sign in the window.

I ate at the Waffle House in Ft. Lauderdale a couple times last week. As usual for that place, it was absolutely nothing to write home about.

I ate @ the Key West Waffle House the week before that, Softailrider
I was filling out postcards while I ate a Sausage, Egg & Cheese Wrap so I guess technically it was something to write home about

I also ate @ Cracker Barrel, because they aren't in Cali, either The conversation of the guy sitting next 2 me reminded me that things are tough all over-snow or no snow

The best part of business trips down south for me is the Waffle House All Star Special!!! Now that Sonic has arrived in Detroit, how about the Waffle House folks following suit?

Oh man, if I was in Detroit right now I'd offer up some of my own waffles. I use a Belgium waffle recipe with real MI maple syrup in the batter and pecans. Incredible.

i like the waffles at The Breakfast Club in Madison Heights on John R between 12 and 13 mile. it's not much to look at and it's usually full of old ladies, but the breakfast food there is great.

Tip: Pour that precious genuine maple syrup into a shot glass, dip a forkfull of waffle into it and you won't waste a drop on the plate.

Yum!

I went by Store #1 in Beaverton, OR & found their "Corporate Headquarters" was about the size of my walk-in closet. You don't get more old school than that

Can't believe I forgot to mention this; that pancake place that opened a couple of years ago on 8 Mile and Fairport has really good waffles.
