It's finally here, the car show I wait all year for. My girlfriend and I and another couple have our rooms all set at the Book Cadillac, I have several restaurants picked out for the four days we'll be in town. Thanks for everyone's suggestions earlier. Tonight I finally got my hot rod as ready as it's going to be. I planned on driving into Cobo but some last minute parts didn't show up so it looks like I'll be pushing the car around when we get there. It's a great show but don't forget to head downstairs for the more traditional/homebuilt hot rods and customs. That's where I'll be, parked with the Nightmares Car Club. Stop by and ask for Scott. It would be cool to meet some members form this board, plus I'll have a big cooler of beer with me. Here's some shots of the almost finished product.

Nice ride Scott, Maybe one day soon I'll get my car home to work on it. Meanwhile I will settle for another year of going to Autorama. Every year since 1983 minus 1 one I've been there.

I do love looking at all the beautiful cars but the reason I go to Autorama may belong in the Dudes We Dig thread! Very talented and not so bad on the eyes. Chip Foose.

Nice upgrade, Bc. I've kept your pics from the past, as I've always loved that old school look.

Thanks Bigb, the car absolutle screamed with the single two barrel and the old Caddy batwing aircleaner. Now I've got six, two barrels so I think I'll get a chance to break some parts especially when I get the pie crust whitewall drag slicks on the back :-)

Hey scooter, the cool thing about Chip is he's a REAL car guy, not just a celeb. A few years ago instead of hanging out with all the fat cats upstairs he came down to the basement looking for Dave Lohr, and Aaron Grote.

These are two regular guys with normal jobs who just happen to have built some really bitchin cars in the home garages. Chip ended up taking them out to dinner. Plus he's a good sport. At Autorama they give out the Riddler award, one the most coveted awards in the business. In 2007 the basement had the "Rubber Riddler" which was actually an adult toy. Chip autographed it, and actually posed for a few photos with it. So he gets it and he's really down to Earth, a great guy.

BC, thanks for the info on Chip. I knew the Riddler was a big deal and years ago found all sorts of info on it. That's when I learned about Chip and was amazed at his sketches and awards. I was tickled that he was on the redesign team for the Motor City Casino. Even this old chick finds Autorama lots of fun!

Cool Davemarc, there's a HAMB meet & greet at the singlefinger speedshop booth every day I think at 2:00 pm. Make sure you swing by.

Kensingtony,

Thanks, I'll certainly do that. I still build models myself, though I don't hardly spend any time on them these days since I haven't yet set up a dedicated work area in my current apt. or my old one. Naturally I've got a couple of dozen of unbuilt kits that I'll get to one day (hah!)
