The Christmas Dinner and Gift Giving for The family went great last night. Some grateful kids and an equally grateful mom.
Thank you Dyes for helping us pull this off.
Pictures will be up as soon as possible.

What great kids! I was so impressed with them. The young boy who said grace before dinner actually brought tears to my eyes. In his blessing, he thanked God for just allowing him to wake up in the morning to be with his family for another day!

I second Cub's thank you to everyone who donated. The generosity of those who read this forum never ceases to amaze me.

On a personal note, it's being involved with this group that makes me remember how very lucky I am. I may not be rich in dollars, or have the house I would like to have, but I have food, heat in my home, and other things that we take for granted every day.

Thanks Blue I feel the same way. This group also impresses me. I choose the young lady to buy for since I have boys but would dearly have loved a daughter as well. Did all the kids get covered?

I am still worried about their housing situation. Any good news on that front? I hope the kids can stay near their church, school and friends.

I love reading this thread because gardening and good people enrich my soul.

Sumas: She was to look at another house yesterday or today. I have not heard whether it works for her or not. I believe all the kids were covered, but Cub will have a better handle on that part. I think there were some donations coming in after the dinner.

Update on Kenya's Family:
They are all moved in and settled in their new place. There are still donations of clothing and household items coming in for them. Some members of our church are stepping up also. Thanks again for all of your help.

Gee we would love to come, but my nasty car drained our winter nest egg. But, hope springs eternal and maybe I'll have a job by then.

Please do compose a list of wants/needs for the center. As mentioned, I have a garage full of household goods. I kept planning to go through and cull items. For example, will either building have a functioning kitchen? I probably have 15 boxes of kitchen items alone.

Which made me think that maybe you could have a garden (garage sale)in the spring with donated items as a fund raiser. You might be amazed at what we alone could donate. I don't need a tax deduction cause we make too little but if you have non profit status, others might bennefit a little for donations.

Good luck with this endeavor. Keep posting regularly, I love this thread since everything is always so positive.

Thank God, I now have motivation to go through these boxes when the weather is a bit warmer.

We like to cook but I swear we have 3 of everything.

I have other good ideas for fundraiser's but one thing at a time. One idea is a really a great one.

Why don't you announce this event under "Connect" forum social club. It qualifies, food, drink, entertainment. You might get a larger audience, not everyone gardens.

It certainly has novelty!
