The Shock are the greatest story in Michigan sports right now. They went from last place to the WNBA title in 2003, and have since made the playoffs every season, won two more championships, and came very close to a fourth. Laimbeer is doing a great job not only of coaching, but also shuffling players in and out to keep the team at its strongest. For example, when power forward/center Cheryl Ford suffered a season ending injury this past season, he made a deal to get veteran Taj McWilliams-Franklin, who stepped in and did at least as well as Cheryl and without whom the 2008 championship might not have happened. Flint's Deanna Nolan has been the star of the team all along, and has emerged as one of the top players in the game. Vince Prygoski has written and published a book titled "Worst to First, or, a 'Shock'ing tale of women's basketball in Motown" that is available at Amazon.com and special order at your local book store.
