We're going to see Rent tonight, and want to try something new for dinner. Preferably moderately priced, with drinks. Any ideas? (Message edited by alley on February 17, 2009) |

Let's see...Angelina's, Small Plates, Detroit Beer Co., Vicente's, or Da Eduardos. A short trip down Washington gets you to the new Roast, or a trip to Greektown to try the new Bistro 555 inside Greektown Casino-Hotel. |

24 Grille in the Book Cadillac is also worth a try--great food and service! Cliff Bell's on the corner of Park and Adams is serving food. I haven't tried their food yet, but it looked terrific on Sunday. |

Detroit Beer Co. has this grilled cheese sandwich on thick crusty texas toast with white cheddar and fontina cheses, bacon, and thinly sliced granny smith apples. they serve it with tomato bisque and it's probably the best thing that's ever happened to my stomach. |

The Beer Co. has great beer and is very moderately priced. Small Plates is a great restaurant too, it's more upscale that the Beer Co. but not too expensive. They are both directly accross the street from the Opera House. I love both of these places. |

Went to the Detroit Beer Co a couple years ago. Liked it. If you've been to the Royal Oak Brewery or Rochester Mills Brewery, it's the same owners and menu. |

Actually Raptor, unless I'm mistaken, I think Detroit and Rochester broke off from Royal Oak and now have a different owner. The beer at those two is vastly superior to RO and I believe it's due to the brewmaster. Can anyone confirm this? |

Brewmaster at RO, Kevin, has been there for years. RO and Detroit are owned by one entity and Rochestor is owned by a different. My buddy Patrick Scanlan is one of the managers at RO. If there is ever an issue with the BEER at RO, please don't hesitate to see Pat...andy |

My apologies. It looks like Rochester Mill split off from Detroit and Royal Oak. Rochester is now part of Pleszure Food Group where as Detroit and Royal Oak are a separate company. Detroit Brewery and RO Brewery's websites are nearly the same in design, and link to each other. Rochester is different. (learn something new every day) Well, I like the food at Royal Oak. I like the food at Detroit Beer co, so I still recommend both. Haven't been to Rochester yet. http://www.detroitbeerco.com http://www.royaloakbrewery.com http://www.beercos.com/ |

I had to go to Detroit Beer Co. not long ago because Small Plates was closed (on a Monday) and I was pleasantly surprised, the food was really good and not just the cliche burgers and fries I expected. Had a very good lunch salad. They teased us because they knew we'd wanted to go to Small Plates. Music's too loud though. Why do restaurants do that, especially sports bars? If I'm having lunch with someone, I want to be able to talk, and hear them. |

Ahartz, I had heard that the brewmaster at Rochester trained the brewmaster at Detroit, regardless I had never had a bad one at either of those two. The last I went to RO was over a year ago, so maybe they improved since then. |

Why not try The Cadillac Cafe inside the Opera House. They have themed dinners for each show. Call 313-237-3487 or www.motopera.org and click on the the Cadillac Cafe logo for the menu. |
