Anybody been there lately? Went last Friday and was extremely disappointed. Decor seems to be 60's hospital cafeteria style. Stood in a long line to be seated, but could see numerous tables that could be available if only they were bussed. Service by the Greeter was sullen at best, she wouldn't even consider our request to be moved away from the waiting line, replying with a terse "This is all there is". Had to go to the service bar ourselves to refill our drinks despite our server walking past (and ignoring) us numerous times. Food was marginal, couldn't even scoop up some mac & cheese because there was an old glob of congealed food on the serving spoon. All this for the low, low price of $24.00 per person! The old buffet in the lower level was better food and decor wise, but the service was also terrible. We are an interracial couple (me white, her black) and the Greeters (black women) on numerous visits could barely contain their contempt (eye rolls, slow service, seating in poor locations, etc., etc.). What is up with this? Is it just me? Anybody else had a similar experience? Needless to say, we won't be back, ever. |

Can you complain to the casino management? Maybe you can get "comped"! |

$24 a person? For a sub-standard buffet? That's way pricey in my opinion for buffet food regardless of the service. Pack in the fact that the greeters were dolts, I'd most definitely be lodging a complaint to the management. |

The MCC buffet has sucked ever since they remodeled. Palette at MGM is much better, and Greektown has put in a new one that I haven't tried yet. I hear it's more like the true Vegas buffets |

1.) MGM - much better then the rest. 2.) Greektown - just opened, needs some fine tuning. 3.) Motor City - horrible, reminds me of Ol Country Buffet (desserts best thing) 4.) Los Galanes - has raised price and eliminated some items Anyothers that I need to try? |

Last time I was there I saw a waitress picking her nose behind that island they all stand behind (but I could see her) and she ATE it! Made us think twice about the food if she needed to eat that? Was it better than the food they served? We walked out and haven't been back to M.C. since then, even to gamble. The wife and I call it Bugger City now and laugh about the memory. |

There are still plenty of good buffets in Las Vegas in the 6.95 - 9.95 price range. I've never had any complaints about the service, either. Come on out! What happens here stays here. |

The buffet at the Rio in Vegas is by far the best I've ever eaten at a buffet. It's more expensive than, say, the Gold Coast, but the food is beyond belief. |

Thanks to all for the input. I'm not in the habit of complaining to the management in hopes of getting "comped" because I feel that if the management gave a shit in the first place they would properly train and supervise their staff. Free crap is still crap in my book. I usually just let my wallet do the talking, but both of us were so disappointed that I had to vent. Purpleheart - Great story, I got a good visual and a laugh! |

Greektown's is only 18.95, and I'd love to hear someone's honest review......I think we give pretty good service, and the food isn't bad considering we just opened... |

Caesars Windsor - has anyone been to their Market Buffet? We went a couple times when it was still Casino Windsor, but not since they changed hands. It was really good whenever we went. I liked to go for the peel and eat shrimp they put out starting at 4 p.m. - I think they did that daily. And their desserts...OMG - so hard to choose! |

Hotel is good, we sold out for the weekend. We had some snafus though, couldn't get rooms cleaned fast enough, two hour wait in the restaurant, but overall things went well. We have 100 rooms booked tonight, which I think is pretty good for a Monday with nothing going on....It's the best hotel you will ever stay in for $99 (with $10 back in free play!) |

I've had mostly good experiences at MC buffet. The ONE 'restraunt' at the MC I won't eat at ever again is next to the carry-out eatery. ( don't remember what they call it) I don't see how it stays in business. Poor service in EVERY aspect. Just last night a couple stood in line behind me at the carry-out place and were talking about their BAD experience. I could relate. |

Glad I got the heads up about Motor City's buffet. I went there a few times before the remodel and thought it was a great buffet (oxymoron?). When I finally get to Las Vegas, the buffet at the Rio is near the top of my list. Do they have lobster? |

It amazes me how quickly people on this forum can get off topic. So you like the buffets in Las Vegas. That's nice, but the discussion is about the buffet at MotorCity Casino. With the exception of Ray's comments, because Ray lives in Las Vegas, everybody else's comments are not helpful to Ct's situation. Ct, you probably went on a night when all that could go wrong did go wrong. I've been to all three of the casiono's buffets and have enjoyed each of them. None of them can beat the original buffet at the temporary MGM Grand Casino but they'll do. |

Oh, please royce. Most threads stray from the original topic. You should be pleasantly surprised that this thread stuck to buffets and casinos in general. You have, in effect, changed the topic from the Motor City buffet to how threads get off topic. |

No, Cheddar_bob, I didn't get off topic because I finished with a comment about Motorcity Casino's buffet and the other casinos' buffets. So, Jcole, seven is the magic number and then one can deviate from a topic. I'll have to remember that before I comment about forumers getting off topic. |

Royce, here was your comment:
quote:With the exception of Ray's comments, because Ray lives in Las Vegas, everybody else's comments are not helpful to Ct's situation.
I pointed out that there were comments that addressed the MCC buffet and others in Detroit. And why, because Ray lives in LV, are his comments any more helpful regarding Detroit casinos than if he lived in, say, Denver? |

I also wondered how this thread morphed into a discussion about Vegas buffets. My only motivation for starting the thread was to inform others about my "experience" at the Assembly Line in the hopes that others would think twice before wasting their money on sub-standard facilities and horrible service. Caveat emptor! |

Jcole, you appear to have a lot of posts but I don't recognize your name. I know of Ray1936 and I know Ray is a former Detroiter and has lived out in Vegas for quite some time. Given this fact, I said that his comments were the exception because he would not have gone to MotorCity's buffet or anybody else's here because he doesn't live here. However, the rest of the folks on here who live here should be talking about our casinos' buffets and not stuff about Vegas casinos' buffets because it has no relevance to the topic. I'm bothered by forumers who have random thoughts about a topic and want to throw them into the conversation when they don't apply. It's like someone asking about what rides are the most fun at Cedar Point and someone who has never been to Cedar Point starts chiming in about the rides at Six Flags of Georgia. Then someone else starts talking about rides at Disney World. These comments about Six Flags and Disney World don't help the person who's asking about the rides at Cedar Point get an idea of how the rides are at Cedar Point so these comments should be left out of the conversation. These additional comments are annoying because I end up reading them as I read threw the thread, trying to find the useful information . I don't know that they're useless comments until I'm half-way through them. By that time, I've wasted seconds and eventually minutes of my time that could have been spent reading another thread or commenting quicker on the current thread. That's annoying. BTW, 20043_stotter, the saying goes, "Opinions are like butts(my preferred word), everybody has one and they all stink." |

I, too, am aware that Ray is a former Detroiter, Detroit policeman and now lives near Vegas, as I am a former Detroiter, daughter of a Detroit policeman and live in an outer suburb. I do have a lot of posts and have been here for a while. When Ray mentioned the Vegas buffets, were we supposed to ignore him, chastise him for changing the topic or what? Topics have a tendency to morph around here quite often. This is not the first thread to do so. There were a number of replies about the MCC buffet, as well as Greektown, Windsor, MGM and some of the local buffets not in a casino. Does your opinion apply to those too, or just Vegas? |

Wow, ever since royce "finished with a comment about Motorcity Casino's buffet and the other casinos' buffets" the tone of this thread has expanded its scope so far that it has very little to do with buffets and casinos. Thanks royce! If you can't see that your bitching about a thread getting off topic is, itself, off topic then you probably never will get it. Try this...see how many times casinos and buffets are mentioned in all of the posts up to your post number 1662. Then see how many times those things are mentioned after your post. |

I was recently at the MCC buffet and I have to agree. It's really annoying to wait in line when you see a whole section of open seating. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary. Next time my friends and I want a buffet we'll prob go back to MGM. |
