Gf needs some quick cash for a family emergency. Anywhere in Warren, Centerline, Roseville that will be good to her for diamonds and other high end jewelry?

Detroit..there's a pawn shop on Gratiot, I think...just north of the Macomb Mall on the west side of the street. Also, I think Precision on the east side of Gratiot next to the McDonald's buys jewelry.

Motor City is on VanDyke between 8 & 9 very reputable and fair. We have a very expensive classic guitar we put up occasionally for short term cash flow. This time around, being lazy we went to Zeidmans on Gratiot. They gave us 1/2 of what Motor City did and the place was just plain creepy, I don't trust them. Everyone there can to drool over this beauty. We have three months on the loan but we are going back Tuesday no later then Wednesday to pick it up.

I have never used the services of a pawn shop but what type of interest rate do you pay? If you pawn a classic guitar for $1000 for three months what does it cost to get it back? Is there some type of regulation by the state?

The fees etc. are regulated. With the economy the way it is, the amounts loaned on non-gold items and values are poor at best.

There's Cash Exchange, on Gratiot near 15 Mile, http://www.thecashexchange.com / They have a lot of jewelry, not sure on pricing because I've never bought any but we buy a lot of video games there at really good prices

Loan rate at those places is generally 2% PER MONTH, that's kind of high in my opinion.

Roughly, $100 in interest plus the original loan of a $1000. Pawn shops generally loan only 10% of their evaluation of the items' worth.

Hey Sumas are you a classical guitarist? I play all styles but classical/fingerstyle is probably my favorite. ;)

(sorry for the off-topic lol)

My husband is the musician in the family. I can't even whistle. It isn't off topic exactly because he would curl up and die if we lost that guitar. Our sons would probably disown us too.

We do have a Wurlitzer (sp)piano in mint condition we have been thinking of selling but the guitar.. never.

I know what it means to own a beloved guitar, hope you never lose it. ;)
