Monica Conyers says she may not seek re-election this fall because the job "isn't worth the criticism". Ya, think maybe she knows her act is through here anyway? Maybe she knows the Synagro poop flying toward the fan is going to take up all her time...why perhaps isn't dear Monica going to run again?

http://www.freep.com/article/2 0090212/NEWS01/902120354/Monic a+Conyers++Re-election+might+n ot+be+worth+it

She is just like thug KK....blame all her problems on others rather than taking responsibility for herself. Obviously she has a good conscience and doesn't think she's done anything wrong. Bar fights, insults at City workers, legal problems....they don't count. After all, she did say that the council job is only "part time".

The way the media has been with her, I wouldn't be surprised if she flipped the script and made herself the victim. Just like Kwame who had the Freep on his tail during the last election he was able to make himself the victim. The media lost that election by forcing its hand too much and playing into a crafty politician.

Freep? Maybe not run the cover story on a second hand report of a screaming match, then follow up with a "3 strikes" and she's out piece on how she needs to go. You can do it more tacitly, less pointing a finger at her and more shaking your head while reporting.

In the interview with Frankie Darcell she made some good points. Monica's problem is that she thinks that because she may be right on an issue it doesn't matter how she goes about addressing that issue. She made good points about opposing the Cobo Hall deal. Okay, so why didn't she calmly state her objections before? She just doesn't know how to conduct business in a professional manner. Also, I partially believe her that Kenyatta instigates some of the issues between the two of them. It's sad that grown people can't conduct business like adults. There's just too much jealousy and animosity and ego-tripping on that council. A whole slew of people should not be re-elected - with Monica leading the pack.

EXACTLY! That's why I was hoping that the media would just allow Kwame to quietly leave jail and get out of town. The more that the media sensationalizes everything he does, the greater the chance they give him of attracting sympathizers. Stop giving these attention whores attention!

KK isn't an attention Whore. He was in the lime light ever since he started running for office. He was a political star that fell from grace. It would be like asking the poperotzy to stop taking pictures of Britney spears. I don't like it either, but it is what it is.

>KK isn't an attention Whore.

LOL. I respectfully disagree. This man rides around with a 10 car motorcade as if he is the president. If that's not an attention whore, then what is? He is the extreme case of an attention whore.

My cousin in St Luis Mo. refers to Kwame as Ice-K and marvels at his wanna' be rock star status. He's a whore alright, a very expensive one!

Ms. Conyers is right where she wants to be and she won't just walk away from it. From her tv and other public appearances it is very clear that she enjoys being a player in the "action" of important events. This a powerful, ego-driven need that would be very hard to satisfy in a return to the private sector. (Actually, she has never been a private sector employee. Pretty sure she has always been gov't employed in some capacity or another.) Indeed, she probably recognizes that she is unemployable in most all other professional circumstances.

The negative media attention she receives doesn't fatigue her, it merely opens up an opportunity to play the easy victim card rather than attempt the difficult task of justifying her conduct or actions on policy or good government grounds. The only thing that might stop her from running for re-election is an indictment coupled with a highly incriminating videotape or wiretap.

A Free Press editorial today urged her to consider not running for re-election. http://www.freep.com/article/2 0090213/OPINION01/902130341/10 69/OPINION/When+Detroit+needs+ leadership+most++Monica+Conyer s+embarrasses

Perhaps Ms. Conyers is gearing up for another longshot try to pass the bar exam. Spotted this on the City Hall Insider blog on the News website:

Conyers' law library
Last summer Monica Conyers, then council president pro tem, amassed quite a law library.

Council financial records show she spent $959 on a dozen law books through Thompson West, which annually prints more than 60 million books according to its web site. They covered a range of legal specialties, from securities to contract to criminal law.

The City Hall Insider called a Conyers spokeswoman to find out the reason for the book buying spree but didn't get a return call.

Here's a rundown of some of the books she bought:

Hazen's The Law of Securities Regulation
Michigan Court Rules State and Federal
Black's Law Dictionary
Stoebuck and Whitman's Hornbook on the Law of Property
Hillman's Principles of Contract Law
Nowak and Rotunda Hornbook on Constitutional Law
Gevurtz' Hornbook on Corporation Law
LaFave's Hornbook on Criminal Law
Michigan Criminal Law and Rules

Conyers got her law degree from the University of the District of Columbia School of Law. Records show she has never belonged to the Michigan or District of Columbia bar associations.

Yeah, actually the bar exam is not a likely reason for the purchase. She's going to be able to put the last two books on the list to good use pretty soon though.

She another classic example of the Peter Principle. She's someone who has risen to a level of her incompetence.

This might be a good book for Monica Conyers. I'd consider taking up a collection to buy it for her, but she might already have a copy.

Ms Conyers should purchase a basic Conversational English text.
Lesson One: Cease the double negatives.

BTW, can someone help me with something. Who the hell was Monica before she was Monica Conyers? What was her history in the community, and what would have justified her becoming a council member beyond the fact that she's Mrs. Conyers? She seems to have come out of left field, and took the city by storm. And, by "by storm", I mean that she took the city hostage and refused to let it go.
